So, a few things about this deck:
In proto-type form, it has 3 Springleaf Drums (rather than 1 drum and 2
Paradise Mantle
), but the local dork-store doesn't have any copies of springleaf drum.
It also has 2 Mutavault, but Mishra's Factory is so much cheaper and does basically the same thing (with the drawback of becoming an artifact creature).
I'm endeavoring to own all the cards in this deck (minus the power 9 cards), hence the Caves of Koilos,
Marsh Flats
, and artifact mana-fixers rather than just using dual lands.
The only true hoser for this deck are cards which give your creatures an upkeep, or prison decks with an unusually fast lockdown (like orim's chant + isochron scepter or winter-orb combos, although a good draw of manafacts can mitigate the latter).
Deck Strategy: Overrun with tokens
This deck is designed to one good thing, and to do it well: produce tokens. I have, in numerous games, recovered from wave after wave of Wrath of God, Day of Judgment, and Damnation due to the sheer token-producing potential of the cards contained in this deck.
Late game Elspeth Tirel's ultimate removes most obstacles as she remains safe behind a wall of tokens (many with flying). She also generates a ton of life in the process.
Sudden Disappearance
is another late-game silver bullet which solves a lot of problems.
Bitterblossom is an early game superstar. Don't be afraid to stack them early. The life loss can be countered by
Knight of Meadowgrain
, Elspeth Tirel, and the tokens from Sorin, Lord of Innistrad. However, feel free to swap in a
Soul Warden
or Soul's Attendant
