Great job! This is everything I had hoped to see in this primer. Even the inclusion of cards that you thought were not as effective is good because it lists their merits in certain deck lists along with describing when they should be played.

Thanks! I hope it will be useful for new players especially. It feels good to finally have this thing finished.

Seems really good and complete! I am doing great with this deck, but I still lack some experience. Also, I am still in love with Hero of Bladehold which often wins me the game. I just tested tonight against a friend with 8rack and I found the match really unfavourable and hard. By turn 3-4 I am out of cards and relying on top-decks while getting damage. Post-side, Leyline of Sanctity wrecks them, but for now I don't have them. Considering to buy them since in three weeks I have a PPTQ.

Really? 8rack should be a good matchup with tokens. And good luck!

This looks great as a primer. I agree with Green_ghost in that I love how you included cards that people would suggest and why you recommend they don't use them. Great work!

Some matchups that are somewhat common, but you didn't mention and you can add in future: Jund, Grixis Delver, Storm, Ad Nauseam, Boogles.

I've seen a few lists around with Liliana of the Veil. I would like to know your opinion on her and maybe add her to the list of planeswalkers. Thanks

Good idea about adding her to planeswalkers, as that's something that people would probably question about. I recommend against Liliana, as the 3 cmc is a very important spot for b/w tokens, and I heavily advise playing something like Spectral Procession then. And later in the game Sorin or Elspeth help race better than Lili does. Any more questions?

No. Thank you very much I enjoyed your primer it was very helpful.

What is the thought pattern you use when deciding what to take out for sideboard cards?
Is there a general strategy like, "Always take out "X" when facing burn and always put "Y" in it's place?"
May 4, 2015 2:20 p.m.
Well token decks tend to vary a lot so I can't but a definitive take x out, put y in. The closest thing I can get to that would be always take out Thoughtseize against burn and put in whatever burn protection you have. Timely Reinforcements, Kor Firewalker, etc.

I mostly lurk, but had to take the time to say thanks for the well-written and insightful primer. I've always loved bw decks and tokens in particular. Hopefully this will help me level up.

Thank you! I hope this will help you as well; I aimed for this to be as in depth of a primer as I could make.

Geeno and Green_Ghost, you were the first ones I thought of who wanted to see this finished. Thoughts?
