BW Warriors - $24 Budget

Modern* Budget WB (Orzhov)

PsychoChikun

A very cheap White and Black Warrior deck with most of the iconic warrior cards. However, because I cannot afford Athreos, God of Passage, I added in Xathrid Necromancer, which I may find more useful as it immediately puts out creatures, meaning that they'll need more than one board wipe in a single turn - or Anger of the Gods :P

I'm pretty proud of how this deck seems to be doing, more often than not dealing lethal damage by turn five, but I feel like there's more I can do to add that extra oomph of damage to finish opponents off earlier or more consistently. If anyone has suggestions (especially criticisms) I'd love to hear it. Any card suggestions would be awesome (trying to keep this deck >$35 though). Hope you enjoyed!

Overlook of the cards:

Dragon Hunter: a 2/1 one drop is the main reason I take it, but its protection from dragons has potential against some decks.

Mardu Woe-Reaper: Like Dragon Hunter I take it because it's a 2/1 one drop. However, its ability is more useful, and can give a couple extra lifepoints needed against an opposing aggro deck.

Battle-Brawler: Almost always a 3/2 two-drop, it's just a decent card but with no downside.

Chief of the Scale: Provides our units with one more defense, which protects them against weak blockers. Sometimes might not be too useful, but as a two-mana 2/3 it's not a bad card in any way.

Chief of the Edge: Giving our units an extra tick of damage adds up really fast and is crucial for taking the opponent down quickly.

Blood-Chin Rager: Giving our creatures menace provides an edge over other aggro decks as it makes our creatures harder to block, making it easier to put in the damage we need. Blood-Chin is great against opponents with few but powerful defenders, and adds a lot of pressure to the opponent.

Mardu Strike-Leader: A sometimes situational three-drop, the strike-leader allows us to get out of ruts by providing extra units continuously; typically you'll want to play other spells turn three and dash him turn four if you have the mana. Not always game-changing, but can give this deck a little extra longetivity against defender-based decks.

Xathrid Necromancer: The oddest card in the deck, the necromancer is great against board wipes, as you'll replace your units other than battle brawler with 2/2 zombies. Once he's out board wipes will probably not do much for your opponent unless they can kill him off first.

Doom Blade: A reliable card for removing blockers and unexpected threats, and also a commonly-owned card which helps reduce the cost of this deck.

Zealous Persecution: This card can really surprise opponents, and is the only card that the opponent has to predict. Not only does it increase the damage your creatures will deal, but can help them live through lightning bolts and take out opposing creatures. Very versatile and has an inexpensive mana cost.

Sideboard:

Foul-Tongue Shriek: Gaining life while taking some of your opponents can make it a pseudo- Double Helix, and helps a lot when racing with other aggro decks.

Herald of Dromoka: Not yet sure about this card, will check it out some more.

Rush of Battle: In order to provide some more finishing power to the deck in necessary situations.

Unmake: When you have to deal with indestructible creatures, unmake is reliable and we don't have to worry about mana colors. Also consider Oblivion Ring as it is more versatile.

Deck Pros/Cons:

+A very cheap multicolored deck that still has little mana issues

+Very Easy and straightforward to play, very frequently dealing lethal damage by turn 5

+Lots of lifegain options helps it win races against other aggro decks.

+Relatively safe with Chief of the Scale, Xathrid Necromancer, and if you want Zulaport Cutthroat.

-A very predictable deck that can make it repetitive and ultimately easy to handle by any deck that knows how to deal with aggro.

-Little opportunity for killing an opponent before turn 5
