Yeah, in my FNM experience B/U Control really cripples Warriors. All they have to do is drop Drown in Sorrow and a couple Bile Blight on the first couple turns and it's pretty much gg. That's when I would add in Duress, Thoughtseize, and Athreos, God of Passage.

@Twisted God I would removed 2 Brutal Hordechief and 2 Mardu Strike Leader and sub in 4x Chief of the Scale. Lowers your curve, making it more difficult to cast his 3 mana counterspells, and provides more protection against Drown in Sorrow. Duress is a good option, but I feel that I'd rather be playing a cheap creature and getting damage in instead.

Might want to consider Mardu Woe-Reaper instead of Dragon Hunter in the mainboard, and put Dragon Hunter in the sideboard...Dragon Hunter is a great card if your opponent is playing dragons but if he isn't its not so great.

Arashin Foremost. Just the Warrior that giver Double Strike for your warriors. The new Silverblade Paladin of the meta.

And you are using just 3.

This deck dont deserve to win anything.

Arashin has been really good in my own testing and I'm thinking a 3/2 Split between her and Blood-Chin Fanatic could give you that extra reach. In my testing, I found that I could get opponents to 2 fast but had a lot of trouble closing games out, and even resolving a fanatic and sacking something for the extra push merits running him in the 75, even if he comes out of the SB.

Here's a link to my list:http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/13-04-15-KJE-bw-warriors/

I'm running one less creature than yor list, but I main deck 2 Sorin, the curve is really good in both our builds, but G2 and G3 is where I've found myself getting wrecked, Anger of the Gods, Drown in Sorrow...so much Abzan and R/x in my meta that is really hoses my deck. Hence why I think more reach in the form of Fanatic is important.

@RacerXen If you're having trouble closing games out with 2 health, I'd toss in a couple Sign in Bloods

@PhantomWang That is devious and I love it. Would never run the card, but it would be a great way to end a game!

Here is my new list if you wanted any ideas. It has been performing seriously well, and I've tried a ton of different builds over the last few months. Let me know what you think:

Hmm interesting deck, I too built a Standard Warriors deck, but I went Dega(mardu) for my colors, Interesting you only have one Sorin, I find him too important to only run one.

Note that it only has cards that I currently own in it, I will be updating it as I get more cards for it.

Feel free to check out my Warriors deck :)

How about some Mardu Woe-Reapers, Its good against graveyard decks and it gives you life, plus its a 2/1 for one.

I have been running this deck to some degree of succes, however I get completely run down against control (wich is ofcourse the very nature of a control deck). Any advice on how to deal with control ?

RacerXen says... #15

Hidden dragon slayer might be way more valuable in the main now that dragons are everywhere. Only card it can't kill is dragonlord silumgar but valorous stance gets the job done. With control on the rise warriors could get under it effectively. Key is working the sb to adjust to rdw and control. Dedicate some cards to rg Dragons As well but hidden dragon slayer might be a good start. Looking at the meta obelisk and return the ranks look like good sb tech.

Why not swap Battle Brawler for Seeker of the Way and use a real card?

jsansoldo, Why not count before you post? ;)
Only 9 cards that trigger the seeker in the deck. Battle Brawler is strictly better in this deck.

I've never understood the hate for Battle Brawler. It's easy to activate, and a 3/2 warrior w/ first strike for 2 is a bargain.

Agreed

WHen Chief of the Edge is on play he Becomes a 4/2 With First Strike...that kills every single 2 drop in the format I think. When Sorin gets in play and he's already got buffs, a 5/2 First striker is stupid good.

PhantomWang says... #21

5/2 First striker with Lifelink :)Battle Brawler is too good not to have in this deck. Haven't been going to FNM that often lately, but in casual play with my friend this deck consistently wins on Turn 5 and sometimes Turn 4. Can't beat that in Standard.

Dude sitting next to me last week at FNM went 3-0 and was pretty well positioned the entire night. However...he went up against R/G Dragons with Ramp and lost to a full resolved Atarka both times. Atarka just blew away everything. He had used up his earlier removal to get through and was low on cards in hand to effectively deal with it.

I was playing Gruul deck wins, and finished in like 6 min? lol So I watched the match, felt a little sad that the warrior deck got hosed turns 6-9. Still T1-5 is where warriors shine.

Anything with red in it is bad news for warrior. Cheap burn spells are the bane of this deck, and with cards like Anger of the Gods available, it can be very difficult to maintain a board. I actually beat a R/G aggro deck 2-0 at gameday, mainly due to Gods Willing saving Arashin Foremost two turns in a row.

April 23, 2015 8:33 a.m.

PhantomWang says... #24

Yes, red burn spells are pretty rough. I played one of the better players at my store in FNM who runs R/W and although I won the first game, he sideboarded all his burn spells in and managed to win the 2nd and 3rd games. I've yet to play anyone running dragons, but that's what Dragon Hunter is for :)

April 23, 2015 12:06 p.m.

Kettleback says... #25

Heh until you realise that Dragon Hunter can't save you from Stormbreath Dragon. I would rather side in Ultimate Price and Surge of Righteousness. These 2 cards will shore up your R/G aggro matchups, whilst all helping with RDW.
