Commander / EDH* Counters GWUB Infect Tribal

Sideboard

Maybeboard

I'd like to start off by saying I am not a fan of Infect, however it seemed to be the strongest synergy Tribal Horrors had to offer, and I'm hellbent on the success of Horror Tribal so here we are.

In testing the land base always seems off, like never have I ever had BBBB for Phyrexian Obliterator (gone now) and GG even seems hard to achieve at times. So, Mana fixing required. Also, draw power is OK, but could be slightly better, possibly tutors instead (remember the budget tag). Possibly trade some Artifacts/Enchantments for more spells for (Thing in the Ice   triggers). I would also like to fit the whole protection package in here (greaves, boots, that sort of thing) as well, however I feel removing anything takes away too much from any of the strategies involved and as such require more opinions on the matter.

Ignore the Sideboard as it is just a Mill/GY Matters package I had tried fitting in as well, however there's just not enough room. The Maybe Board is all stuff I've considered including, aside from the ramp cards I can't really tell if they fit better than anything already in the main or not. Lastly, more evasion would be great again if room can be found... So bad at removing things...

General Goal: Infect each player with at least 1 point, Proliferate the rest or surprise 10+ infect hit. Control board with negative counters and stave off assaults with tokens.

Fume Spitter: Sacrificial Blocker with proliferation value.

Gnarlwood Dryad: Deathtouch deterrent, that gets bigger.

Ludevic's Test Subject  : Starts out small, becomes a big beater and can be made so faster via proliferation.

Plague Stinger: The early bird gets the infecting worm started.

Thing in the Ice  : One of our tribe specific board wipes.

Thrummingbird: Small, seeming harmless, until the counters start stacking.

Chasm Skulker: Explodes into tokens made better by draw and proliferation.

Mirror Entity: Has the potential to turn 1 infect damage to whatever your max mana is.

Necroskitter: The infected shall become a part of the collective. Resistance is futile.

Phyrexian Rager: A card for a life and a cheap body? Sure.

Core Prowler: Infects on the way in, proliferates on the way out. Sounds... so wrong...

Creakwood Liege: Anthem that makes tokens.

Faceless Butcher: Do you wanna hide a body?...

Hell's Caretaker: Trades tokens for the infections our opponents are trying to rid themselves of.

Phyrexian Obliterator: Come at me bro.

Ravenous Chupacabra: Body + Removal of a body.

Tangle Angler: Force blocks on key pieces and indestructable creatures, then proliferate later.

Thought Gorger: Trade up on hand size. Discard 1-2, gain more after you've proliferated some.

Deathbringer Liege: Anthem, bonus for playing spells.

Putrefax: Open board? Slam for 5 poison counters.

Reaper of Sheoldred: All alone with a free hugs sign. Poor guy.

The Gitrog Monster: Trade lands for hopefully more lands and other goodies.

Dark Hatchling: Flying body + Body Removal

Netherborn Phalanx: Could be useful against large board states, or find something more effective.

Phyrexian Swarmlord: Tick up the poison counters to pump out the tokens to make more counters and tokens possible.

Voidmaw: Over time he becomes a one swing kinda guy.

Metallic Mimic: While not a Horror until after ETB, it provides more targets for proliferation.

Thing in the Ice  : Tribe specific board wipe. (May req. more spells to pull off).

Herald's Horn: Ramp for critters, and psuedo Draw for critters.

Door of Destinies: Anthem that grows with each creature and proliferation.

Kindred Discovery: Draw for ETB of/attacks with our Horrors.

Kindred Dominance: Another tribe specific board wipe.

Spoils of Blood: When someone decides to wipe the board, create a monster. A really big monster hopefully.

Call of the Nightwing: Fills in our Flying gap a bit with tokens.

Fume Spitter: A sacrificial blocker that can be blown up for later removal via proliferation.

Plague Stinger: An early infector, as well as evasive.

Necroskitter: It's a given our opponents will block rather than get infected if they can, also with other ways to spread negative counters we can use this guy even though he doesn't fit with the tribe.

Core Prowler: Infect + proliferation all in one. Has to die for it, but worth it.

Tangle Angler: To get those counters on things they'drather not have counters on.

Putrefax: One time Injection that needs a clear path to work.

Reaper of Sheoldred: Wether he's pitching or catching... you're still getting in that point.

Phyrexian Swarmlord: Makes little infection babies too.

Contagion Clasp: Spreading the love, 4 mana at a time.

Surestrike Trident: Can't break through the opposition's defense? Throw an infected pointy stick at them.

Serrated Arrows: Spend a counter, and after a proliferation you get it back and an extra on your target too.

Contagion Engine: Clasps bigger brother.

Phyresis: Probably best if used on a trampler.

Corrupted Conscience: Why remove when you can recruit?

Grim Affliction: A negative counter and the growth of all other counters.

Triumph of the Hordes: The plus side isn't so great, but if you have more critters than them... it doesn't matter.

Thrummingbird: A little flyer that can fit in somewhere to get the payoff.

Core Prowler: Dies for the cause.

Contagion Clasp: Mana sink for extra points.

Contagion Engine: See above, only better.

Inexorable Tide: Increased flow to our endgame.

Grim Affliction: Shoot to wound, aim to kill... and probably increase some mana production too.

Steady Progress: If it were steady it would be every turn. Didn't think if that one did ya?

Fuel for the Cause: Our only counterspell thus far, but it indeed does fuel the cause.

Tezzeret's Gambit: Feels more like a blackspell because we'll likely always pay the 2 life.

Spread the Sickness: The point.of the entire deck right here. Kill something, proliferate to kill more things.

There are some lands as well as every opponent that are targets as well as these mentioned below.

Ludevic's Test Subject  : Mana Sink a little, and proliferate some and poof, big monster.

Thing in the Ice  : Almost like a rift that you have to charge up for creatures only though.

Thought Gorger: Don't have to discard a lot, but you can proliferate for more cards.

Astral Cornucopia: Basically a 3 cost mana rock that produces more over time.

Everflowing Chalice: See above except, 2 drop

Door of Destinies: A growing Anthem with more ETBs and proliferating.

Serrated Arrows: A rechargeable negative counter machine.

As Foretold: Because who doesn't like free spells? We can just count it up faster.

Sol Ring: Are ther decks not running this?

Phyrexian Reclamation: Bit of Recursion, could probably use more.

Cryptolith Rite: Turn all creatures into mana dorks. (Consider changing?)

Dauthi Embrace: Evasive infectors, could probably use more of this too.

Growing Rites of Itlimoc  : Find a creature, flip to land, possibly not possible .. consider changing.

Hadana's Climb  : Turn a small infector into a bigger flying infector. Also can spread counters for proliferating.

Path to Exile: Cheap removal, and white. Yes, that's important.

Swords to Plowshares: More cheap removal, because life doesn't really matter.

Cyclonic Rift: Every blue deck has one.

Anguished Unmaking: Won't hurt my feelings none, some things are just better left exiled anyway.

Putrefy: More removal, with a fitting name too.

Utter End: Anything goes with this one... except a land of course, and I suppose hexproofed or shrouded things...
