12.27.24 -
Though Azusa provides more land drops, Loot’s ability is pretty valuable. Roaming Throne is too good in this deck and I’m not sure why I got rid of it in the first place. I think I’m utilizing Omo more, which makes RThrone much better. Svyelun of Sea and Sky is card draw and tribal synergizes. Priest of Titania is big ramp for .
11.5.24 - Foundations Edition
I already cut something for Eluge Shoreless sea and don’t remember what I cut for it, so there we go. Soulstone Sanctuary is really good because it just stays a creature.
11.5.24 - Duskmourn: House of Horrors Edition
As soon as Duskmourn was spoiled, I knew Overlord of the Hauntwoods was going immediately to this deck. Not only does it create land tokens but those land tokens have the same effect as Omo! I’m changing some things back. The mill/land ramp package isn’t what I want for this deck. I rather have effects that are similar to Growth Spiral. Thus, Lumra, Bellow of the Woods, Six, Life from the Loam, and Shifting Woodland. Eternal Witness is back in. Springheart Nanuko is in over Helm of the Host. Season of Weaving does essentially the same thing as Evacuation and makes tokens and draws cards. Llanowar Loamspeaker is ramp and animates a land.
9.12.2024 - Bloomburrow Edition: More Ramp and More Draw in My Deck?
In: Clifftop Lookout, Fecund Greenshell, Tanglepool Bridge, Three Steps Ahead, Six, Lumra, Bellow of the Woods, Life from the Loam, Azusa, Lost but Seeking, shifting woodlands, Waterlogged Grove, Sphinx of Clear Skies, Feline Sovereign, Mystic Sanctuary, and Nael, Avizoa Aeronaut.
Out: Elvish Rejuvenator, Desert Warfare, Cascading Cataracts, March of Velis Vel, Eternal Witness, Thassa, Deep-Dwelling, Magus of the Candelabra, Druid Class, Riptide Library, Lair of the Hydra, Roaming Throne, Oracle of Mul Daya, Forest and Island
As soon as Bloomburrow was spoiled, I knew Clifftop Lookout needed to be in this deck. Fecund Greenshell and Lumra, Bellow of the Woods have strong land synergizes, so made some changes to accommodate them.Life from the Loam and Six work well with Lumra. Azusa, Lost but Seeking for more land drops. shifting woodlands essentially copies a permanent in the graveyard. Sphinx of Clear Skies is in for an easy domain strategy. Feline Sovereign for artifact and enchantment removal. Tanglepool Bridge is a dual land that is indestrucibile, which makes it a great target for land animation. Three Steps Ahead is a counterspell, card draw, and a clone in one card. Clifftop Lookout is a better Elvish Rejuvenator. I don’t care what anyone says, Nael, Avizoa Aeronaut has been good for me, even at . Desert Warfare and March of Velis Vel are probably good, but I’m not patient enough to find out. Eternal Witness is functionally replaced by Six and Mystic Sanctuary. Thassa, Deep-Dwelling and Roaming Throne is fine but I wanted to make room for other cards. Oracle of Mul Daya has felt “meh” every time I’ve played it, even though it is a great card. Magus of the Candelabra is fine and just don’t feel like playing it. Druid Class is good for the life gain, but Azusa double land drop is better.
7.17.2024 - Round 2 Changes
In: Curious Altisaur, Swan Song, Counterspell, Hakbal of the Surging Soul,
Archdruid's Charm, Scatter to the Winds, Rhystic Study, Lord of the Unreal, Spawning Kraken, Timber Protector, Flare of Denial, Galerider Sliver, Eternal Witness, Nesting Grounds, and Constant Mists
Out: Harmonize, Summary Dismissal, Arcane Denial, Avenger of Zendikar, Drown in Dreams, Treasure Cruise, Eureka Moment, Scute Swarm, Bonny Pall, Clearcutter, Rampaging Baloths, Mirage Mirror, Mana Reflection, Ramunap Excavator, Blast Zone, and Propaganda
I got rid of plenty of generically good, but boring cards like Rampaging Baloths, Avenger of Zendikar, and Treasure Cruise. I don’t like Harmonize, Summary Dismissal, and Arcane Denial. I think there are things that just do it better. I hate Scute Swarm, both digitally and in paper. It either does nothing or is just a hassle to track. Curious Altisaur is here to draw cards, just most of my non-land creatures will be dinosaurs. I upgrade the interaction suite with Swan Song, Counterspell, Archdruid's Charm, Scatter to the Winds, and Flare of Denial. Hakbal of the Surging Soul is a mass explore trigger and is ramp/card draw. Lord of the Unreal and Timber Protector for protection. Bonny Pall, Clearcutter had a short stay. I’ll played with Bonny and she is good, but I think that’s the issue. Because she is generally good, I would rather have a different and more appropriate finisher. That’s why Spawning Kraken is in to mass produce 8/8 krakens. Rhystic Study is a blue staple. Galerider Sliver is for cheap evasion. Eternal Witness over Ramunap Excavator because EWitness is a better clone target. Constant Mist and Desert Warfare is a fun combo for now. Nissa, Who Shakes the World is a good enough Mana Reflection and does something the turn she comes in. Nesting Grounds to move everything counters onto lands for a quicker Maze's End win.
7.11.2024 - Round 1 Changes
Gatebreaker Ram and Circuitous Route are staples in Maze's End. All of the modes of Druid Class appeal to me, between the life gain, extra lands, and a land beater. Cyclonic Rift and Doppelgang wins games. Elvish Archdruid is a buffer and ramp. Nissa, Who Shakes the World is the better Nissa. Whelming Wave is a one sided sweeper. Apex Devastator is an uninteresting good card that I feel was just thrown into this pre-con just because. There are better ways to draw cards than Seer's Sundial. Rampant Frogantua is out because I don’t want to mill myself. Oblivion Stone doesn’t seem necessary but could be revisited. Hydroid Krasis is a generally good card that I’ve played with plenty and want something different. Finale of Revelation is fine. I just don’t want to play it, for now.
Immediate Pre-Con Upgrade
First, I want better lands in this deck. Because Omo is mana-fixing, I can really explore different options of both colored and colorless lands, as well as utility lands. Though Maze's End is the primary win-con, I want to play with Deserts, Caves, and creature lands too.
Lands
Breeding Pool from Overflowing Basin
Hedge Maze from Quandrix Campus
Maze's End from Temple of Mystery
Rejuvenating Springs from Thornwood Falls
Baldur's Gate from Yavimaya Coast
Sunken Citadel from Volatile Fault
Otawara, Soaring City from Island
Boseiju, Who Endures from Forest
Urza's Cave from Trenchpost
Field of the Dead from Simic Growth Chamber
Gond Gate from Glimmerpost
Hall of Storm Giants from Desert of the Mindful
Cascading Cataracts from Desert of the Indomitable
Riptide Laboratory from Vineglimmer Snarl
Artifacts
Helm of the Host from Skullwinder
Creatures
Jolrael, Voice of Zhalfir from Acidic Slime
Tatyova, Steward of Tides from Floriferous Vinewall
Bonny Pall, Clearcutter from Hydra Broodmaster
Displacer Kitten from Fog Bank
Thassa, Deep-Dwelling from Poison Dart Frog
Oracle of Mul Daya from Satyr Wayfinder
Roaming Throne from Arcane Signet
Instants and Sorceries
Awaken the Woods from Terastodon
Enchantments
Spelunking from Chromatic Lantern
Planeswalker
Kiora, the Crashing Wave from Vivien Reid
This first change is all the cards I want to play with initially. You might notice that I’m not leaning into the “tribal tribal” type and instead focusing on lands. This is because I really like the card Sage of the Maze. Besides supporting one of my favorite win-conditions in Maze's End, Sage is a great mana dork that animates lands into X/X based on the number of Gates controlled. Especially with Omo on the field, these land creatures will be huge. Second, Sage can be untapped by tapping an untapped Gate. I just think this card is very good and worth building around. Going along with this type, I’m really enjoying Tatyova, Steward of Tides and Jolrael, Voice of Zhalfir in combination with Awaken the Woods. Kiora, the Crashing Wave is here because I like Kiora for Maze’s End. I like her in Standard when I played it and I ain’t changing it. You can though.
