This looks pretty good. I like the use of Nylea and her bow. That being said...

I think you should drop Nylea. She's not bad. Trample is great and being able to sink mana into pump spells is awesome late game, but overall I think those slots could be better used. Unflinching Courage already grants things trample and Kalonian Hydra has it built in. I'd say go with this:

The synergy between Ethereal Armor , Witchstalker and Bow of Nylea is incredible (and I've been toying with the idea of finding a spot for the bow in my deck as well). Big first-strike hexproof beaters are never a small thing. I think you could very much benefit from this. +1 man!

@Spootyone

While I think you have valid points, I like Nylea as a body and for her triggers. She also helps Ethereal Armor trigger even when she's a creature if I'm not mistaken. Play test have her coming in as a 6/6 creature right away almost all of the time.

Fair enough! Yes, she does activate the armor regardless of her condition. If it works, then that's great.

September 16, 2013 9:20 p.m.

He just wants her for her body...

I feel like there's a substitution to be made for Ordeal of Nylea (it just seems a bit slow for me) but i can't quite put my finger on it.

+1 !!I think Ordeal of Nylea should be cut. By the time you sac this enchantment, u prob don't need any more extra lands. Your max mana drop is 5 only. I'd put more body to make sure your attack is non-stop instead. Maybe -3Ordeal of Nylea, +3 elvish mystic/loxodon smiter. Mana elf helps you to cast your bomb 1 turn earlier which is crucial for the win

Definitely +1!

Great synergy! Quirky idea that could definitely work here- Holy Mantle . If you put it on a hexproof creature (Fleecemane Lion , Witchstalker ,Gladecover Scout ), it makes sure that nothing can touch it- hexproof and pro-creatures= auto damage and enchantment effects every turn (gain life with Unflinching Courage ). Spam enchantments onto that creature and it's almost an auto win.

@flyguy

That's actually a really good idea. Even if it doesn't go on a hexproof guy, it could still be a game winning move. Thanks for that!

I really don't think you need Nylea. Like the rest of the gods, she's really expensive and doesn't really do a lot when she's not a creature. If you want an aura deck, you're better off just replacing her with more of the auras you actually need like Unflinching Courage and Ethereal Armor.

@Ashnard

I don't see how you can say that Nylea is expensive. Her cost is four and during play testing, when she came out she was almost always a creature. A 6/6 for four that give everyone trample is not my definition of expensive. But your beliefs are your own and mine say that Nylea does indeed work here. I am opposed to the idea of taking her out because I strongly believe that she pulls her own weight in this deck thanks to play testing. Thank you for your suggestion, however I think we have different views on this topic.

I think if you have mana issues, replace Gladecover Scout with Elvish Mystic . Yeah GS is great but its only good for attacking, with the Mystic you can attack or use for mana. So personally I like the Mystic better

Game 1, turn 4: 4 devotion with Nylea.Game 2, turn 4: 4 devotion with Nylea.Game 3, turn 4: 4 devotion with Nylea.Game 4, turn 4: 2 devotion with Nylea.Game 5, turn 4: 4 devotion with Nylea.

These are the results of me testing your deck in a vacuum pretending your illegal Evolving Wilds were full-fledged Savannah s. Given that you have no mana dorks and virtually all of your devotion base (aside from the Bow of Nylea) is in auras and creatures, in a real game that constant 4 devotion you have by turn 4 is likely going to be a LOT lower.

The simple truth is that there's a reason people consider her the worst of the 5 gods.

@Magiclover318

The scout has hexproof so it is much more reliant of a target for my enchantments. And, I also have a mana cap of 5 so no real issues have risen up. Of they do however I would much rather go with the 0/3 defender with hexproof. If the mana dork can't stay on the field then it can't really help out. Thanks for your input though!

I think that based on what Ashnard said you should definitely remove the Gladecover Scout for the Elvish Mystic

I'm taking it that no one is going to acknowledge that Evolving Wilds will be illegal post rotation then?

boston89 says... #15

@Ashnard I don't know how you're testing but obviously you're not very good at it. Lets just leave it at if it was your deck you could make the changes you see fit. However it's not and my choice is that the card stays. And I also don't know where you got your information about her being the worst god card. If used the right way I think she is the best one. But like I said before, your opinion is your own. Thank you.

No I knew that, I just forgot to mention it in my last comment, I am excited to see what selesyna scry lands come out if they do. I hope they do. I would bump up Forest by 3 and your Plains by 1.

@Ashnard you must have daddy issues or something because you have a thirst for approval. Yes they wilds will be illegal. Does that make you feel better champ?

Ashnard says... #18

I don't know how you're testing but obviously you're not very good at it.

I played out 4 turns in a vacuum with your deck. I don't see how I can be "bad" at that as anyone who knows just the fundamentals of the game could do the exact same thing and tell that, while Nylea CAN be a creature by turn 4 with this deck, it doesn't happen anywhere near as often as you claim it does.

And I also don't know where you got your information about her being the worst god card.

Every Magic community except this one. Some people rank Heliod as worse, but the general majority find that Nylea is the worst. Hell, if you look at her preorder price, you can see that she's the second cheapest, so at the most she's the second worst.

Sylvan Caryatid good ramp and early blocker with hexproof. Ajani, Caller of the Pride give hydra a counter when it comes out then give flying doublestrike =10/10 double strike flying trample

If you are running Gift of Immortality , Voice of Resurgence is an awesome target that would fit in well with selesnya.

September 19, 2013 9:14 p.m.

@tjguy747

I would love to run voices however I have none and they are around $40 a piece.

September 19, 2013 10:39 p.m.

Soldeath says... #23

I too wanted to run voice but i'm not looking to spend almost full price for them even though I can afford it. Interesting deck and I too have a selesnya deck that will be finished once theros is out. Check it out Selesnya playground also +1.

@TexasDice

That's a great card. Especially because a lot of people are running Archangel of Thune .
