+1 for the awesome description..

I like the deck very much, but would probably be like "eh. That's neat. I like the idea. I'll +1 and say something vaguely positive to boost their self esteem and hopefully make any stress in their life a little less detrimental," but then I saw your description. I don't know words. I'll go with "respect," as fairly accurate. I highly respect and applaud that description. The story itself is good and very creative, but of course the part that catches my attention is your highly specific use of gender-specific pronouns. If one of my friends did that, I'd probably smile and hug them for absence of words. Instead I will try to communicate the magnamiable numbers of +1s I would put in the single +1 I can put. Also, you knew perfectly well when you wrote that thst you are going to catch some applesauce for it from homophobic people, the vast majority of whom are in the closet. So know that you are not the only person who is totally aware of how unreasonable they are being, nor are you the only person who reads those comments and rolls their eyes and gets annoyed &/or angry at their bigotry.

Keep up the good work. I'll see if I can't work something like that into my own works. Brilliant.

+1

It crosses my mind that your upvoting rate will be thouroughly irrelevant to the actual quality of your deck, instead being largely based upon human tolerance levels, making it a fascinating case study in demographic opinion- in this case, the gaming community. Perhaps you should record your upvoting rate relative to publicity your deck is getting, and compare to other decks of roughly equivalent levels of general interestingness & quality.

That's actually quite lovely, thanks for tagging me VampireArmy~

This story actually brings up some memories ... wonder if they still hold relevance.

how about Honor of the Pure ? it's in this case just strictly better than Glorious Anthem

If you want to run Honor of the Pure instead of Glorious Anthem , it should say this: "... with words entwined with the Honor of the Pure ."

On another note, my little girl has indeed long since past her lesbian stage of life. Oh well, I can always fantasize~

Thanks for all the comments and upvotes guys! You have all been really encouraging. :D A note on internet bigotry in the nerd community: it has been my experience that nerds are surprisingly ahead of the curve when it comes to the LGBT community and normalizing homosexual interactions (as in, not overly dramatizing them or demonizing them). However, my experience with nerds comes from the more roll-playing aspect of nerd-dom, namely (another Wizards of the Coast franchise) Dungeons and Dragons and not from online first person shooters... So, there's that. To accent that point, here's a link to some fun/exciting news in the wizards of the coast world. http://www.towleroad.com/2014/07/dungeons-dragons-creators-your-characters-sexual-orientation-is-for-you-to-decide.html?onswipe_redirect=no&oswrr=1

On to the deck itself, thanks for the suggestions. My reasons for choosing Glorious Anthem over Honor of the Pure are twofold.

  1. It offers more devotion to get more goats... and who doesn't want more goats?

  2. The whole strategy of the deck is to trade your silly little goat army for your opponents creatures. Giving 1/1 to my white creatures is great, but I feel like the versatility of having that for all creatures is worth the one extra manna.

Rebuttals?

Also, this deck was created more to tell a very silly story that made me smile once while mindlessly trudging through my day, so if it is even remotely competitive that is purely coincidence. Haha.

Anways, I really do appreciate all the love and enthusiasm this deck is receiving!

-1 Glorious Anthem for 1 Spear of Heliod ? Although not sure how it would fit into that description, lol

wolfging, great deck idea and great description. Props for the creativity. Have you thought about putting in populate effect cards? It could get those goats out there faster.

Femme_Fatale says... #13

Populate is WAY too slow for modern, it is practically useless.

wolfging Haha funny deck, very original. Love the goat trading idea loll. AricMcDonald is right about something though, what got my attention is your deck's story. I love it.

I agree with something you said, about role-playing gamers being generally more open-minded towards the LGBT community. Don't know why, maybe it's the ability to put oneself in someone else's shoes, like we do all the time when we play a character. Maybe a few gamers know what it's like to be bullied in school, and acquire a better sense of empathy towards others while growing up. (Or maybe nerds are simply smarter than the average person lolll ;) But I'm sure it's still difficult for many guys to be themselves, even with their best friends, so I think it's a good thing to talk about it sometimes, even with small things like your deck's story.

Btw, Jace Beleren and Venser, the Sojourner are a gay couple in QUEST MAGIC. They're even married ;)
(spoiler alert) Check it out here (spoiler alert)

That said, all I wish to add is Peer Pressure . Like the great proverb says: "Nothing's meaner than taking back a given goat." ;)

+1 for story

Flickerform and Ephara's Radiance would be great in this deck, I don't know how you would put them into the description, but they synergize with the combos. +1 for story and +1 for awesome combo (trade's goat for blightsteel)

If you wanted you could also add in a couple Trading Post's, but now that I think of it they're pretty bad...

November 7, 2014 2:41 p.m.

If you had Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite you would trade their stuff for soon to be corpses, though the description might be affected somewhat.

Elesh Norn, the terrifying mother-in-law...

Maybe some Coat of Arms for sideboard, switching with Daring Thief when needed?

AricMcDonald... I would +1 your comment if I could. Oddly enough, I didn't catch the pronoun use the first time around. It changes everything.

Penthoplayer says... #25

Goatnapper. Just to steal the goats back. However, that would mean splashing red.
