Welcome to my first home brew without any outside influence yet. Alas, I've come here to fix that. To note, this deck is awaiting the arrival of the new MTG all-star, that is, the Waste Not. I don't believe the deck is worth playing until we get him due to his great consistency he hands us. This deck is heavily based around the discard mechanic and disrupting your opponent.
Let's start at the origin. Deciding to try my hand at my first home brew I came across Contamination and immediately saw a more powerful Blood Moon that can functionally shutdown most legacy decks at a small drawback. So, the first steps involved the addition of Bitterblossom and Ophiomancer. Next, I needed to work around my opponent's Force of Will and something to beat them. Hand disruption being my go-to, I jumped onto Cabal Therapy fitting the slot perfectly. This also encourages the use of the powerful land Phyrexian Tower, only leaving me one question, what do I do with all this mana? +The perfect answer I found being Phyrexian Obliterator
With the announcement of Waste Not, this allowed discard to be what I believe to be a perfect fit for most of this deck. Ruining my opponents plans to establish a pretty powerful board state and grant card advantage? Yes please. Immediately jumping to
Hymn to Tourach
and Thoughtseize, the synergy felt so smooth. Next I found what I believe to be another all-star, the almighty Deathrite Shaman, allowing of a faster race, ramp, and life-gain to help offset the Bitterblossom and opponent's interactions.
The addition of Sensei's Divining Top felt like a nice and easy fit as a two-of. Liliana of the Veil being a beautiful and fitting three-of.
Lastely, for the decks that aren't the bothered by Contamination or for possible added pressure of a not-as-good Phyrexian Obliterator I added 4 Braids, Cabal Minion to the board.
Due to Waste Not not yet being released, I replaced it in the card list with Liliana's Caress as it's what I thought to be the closest to what it's powerful counterpart will be.
I'd love to get as much feedback as possible, I want to see this live up to it's fullest potential, and that can only be helped by you!
