really nice deck, the hellkite trant should be really deadly but quicksilver amulet is not really powerful in this try darksteel forge

@bronzebicker Prototype Portal is for any artifact not just creatures; however, after playtesting a little bit more myself I do agree that Soul Foundry and Quicksilver Amulet are a bit lack luster. When I was designing the deck I started out with stuff that I thought would be incredibly awesome to copy. As it turns out, there's much more useful artifacts than mono red creatures lol.
The above basically goes with Grindclock and Decimator Web just crazy stuff that can be copied.
I'm going to keep Ring of Three Wishes simply because red has almost zero tutors, and I'm not much of a gambler.
You mention draw power, would you suggest things like Temple Bell ? Or things like Faithless Looting ? I'm very interested in your opinions on these as I feel the lack of draw will end up hurting me in the end.
The lands... I'm not sure if I want to take any out just yet. That one I'll have to pay more attention to when I play test, I didn't have any problems with it
@marcandr Thank you for the suggestion; however, Darksteel Forge is already in the mainboard :)

I've been considering Kurkesh as a commander, but didn't really think about how many artifacts he breaks in half... I just looked through your list and couldn't stop laughing. The one big thing I could see here is a Sculpting Steel It enables a few different combos and is just generally very useful.
For Draw power, bell is good, but since you can double and prolif well, try Otherworld Atlas .
From your maybe list, Welder, Coretapper, and Conatagion Engine are must plays.
And I agree with bronzebicker, You only need 32-34 land with that many rocks and your fairly low curve.

Draw power would essentially substitute for tutors. If you're going for copy your artifacts strategy, look at it as "welp, that combo didn't work, on to the next one". The artifacts you mentioned are fine, but also things like Molten Psyche , Reforge the Soul , and Knollspine Dragon (because dragons)The lands count is less to do with your early game and more with you drawing lands three turns in a row late gameGlad to hear you're taking in suggestions

@chrispmatth The sad thing is I found those sideboard cards after I had already ordered most of the deck. Now that I have some suggestions on what to take out, they will be my next priority for sure, same for Sculpting Steel
@bronzebicker I do have a Wheel of Fortune and a Reforge the Soul just sitting in my binder, maybe now is the time to use them. I like Molten Psyche it looks fun to use with Otherworld Atlas .
Should I perhaps consider some burn cards? I have no real way of dealing with creatures or planeswalkers other than the few board wipes and token generators I have. Maybe things like Shrapnel Blast or Artillerize ?
Also, I have almost no way of getting rid of enchantments. Are there any mono-red or colorless enchantment removal?

You can decide what ways you want to draw :) They all sound good in this deck. I like the idea of getting political with Temple Bell/Atlas, though, watch out for Nekusars in your meta
Mono Red Enchantment removal is Chaos Warp
, Spine of Ish Sah
and Apocalypse
. It's gonna be your Achilles' Heel.
I think you can care less about boardwipes and planeswalker pickings. If you need to care, I'd say Purphoros, God of the Forge
, otherwise don't bother with burn spells. You generate enough tokens to aggro down walkers and you can rebuild with a single tap.
I'd be more scared of Kurk removal, so Darksteel Plate
?
July 28, 2014 7:02 p.m.
Oh wow, I might just put Purphoros in just for shits.
I like chaos warp and spine, I'll put them in when I get them, I also do have Darksteel Plate already in the mainboard, I want to keep my commander alive as much as possible. I need to pick up another Lightning Greaves as well.

Basalt Monolith + Rings of Brighthearth is another infinite combo here. I'd inlcude something like Scroll Rack and toss in some X burn spells, a la Fireball to use with the infinite mana.

35 land is a bit low for this deck. I'd say 38 would be about right with how many high drops you have. Also, your commander is going to require a constant stream of mana to be able to copy artifact abilities. Not to mention, a lot of your artifact abilities require mana to activate. Don't short your self on mana!

I also have the potential of 8 mana rocks if you include Sculpting Steel into the mix. I have found that I have absolutely no problem playing what I want when I should be able to.

I like a lot. First of these EDHs I have seen work... I would put a Blood Moon in the sideboard at least. It's super helpful.
Also, where are you infinite mana dumps? I see Sudden Demise , Hellkite Igniter , and Steel Hellkite , but what about Bonfire of the Damned ? Or Banefire , Rolling Thunder , Red Sun's Zenith or even a Blaze ? I would put many more damage spells in, and maybe some dragons that can pump like Shivan Dragon or Shivan Hellkite ?
Other than that, this deck is stacked... +1 from me.

Sweet, I just built a Kurkesh EDH on here a few days ago; ours are pretty similar actually! It might be worth a look for ya Kurkesh of Janky Artifacts

I agree with the "too many lands" guy. Almost all of your cards are mana-cheap. Mostly, however, i think your OPPONENTS have too many lands and perhaps a Ruination
would be in order? A lot cheaper than a Blood Moon
and it can't be removed later.
Quicksilver Amulet
seems a bit weak but i LOVE my Soul Foundry
with any number of cheap creatures, allowing your boss to pump out multiples of creatures that you thought were good enough to put in your deck.
Moltensteel Dragon
comes out for 4 mana if you really need him, is pumpable, and all your artifact stuff works on him.

Awesome commander. I will get him and try him out in the boxed commander deck with maybe some of this other cool stuff. Also sorry but Basalt Monolith + Rings of Brighthearth doesn't work. Rings of Brighthearth specifically says "if it isn't a mana ability."
February 6, 2015 11:36 a.m.
But isn't mana ability defined as something you pay mana to do? Bc if that's true, some of that also wouldn't work with Kurkesh, Onakke Ancient either
February 10, 2015 1:50 p.m.
@Harper26 Here's the rule definition for a mana ability:
406.1. A mana ability is either (a) an activated ability without a target that could put mana into a players mana pool when it resolves or (b) a triggered ability without a target that triggers from a mana ability and could produce additional mana. A mana ability can generate other effects at the same time it produces mana.
So any ability that adds mana to your mana pool is a "mana ability"

Grindclock has got to find a way into here. It's one of the funnest ways to win in the entire game.
February 16, 2015 8:53 p.m.
@FAMOUSWATERMELON Thanks for the suggestion! It did use to have a spot, but it just took too long to get running unfortunately. The time spent trying to ramp it up was better spent on other things :(

I play tested your deck a couple of times and while I'm no expert, I'll tell you what I can see :) . I think you have too many "backup Kurks". I think Kurkesh, Rings, Voltaic Key and maybe one more would be good enough.
You have too many lands, considering all your nonland mana sources. They tend to clog your hand. Consider replacing them with draw power or tutors
Prototype Portal , Soul Foundry , and Quicksilver Amulet are a tad out of place as you often don't have any creatures in hand.
Grindclock , Ring of Three Wishes , Mirrorworks , and Decimator Web seem a tad slow for your deck. The positions where they are good are also spots where you would win anyway (insert "infinite mana and untap combo" here)
Finally, Zirilan of the Claw and Sundial of the Infinite are pretty good for the dragon plan too, if you're still interested in that.
