This deck's main theme is to draw as many cards as you can and make your opponent discard cards to keep yourself ahead. I modeled the creature base and the curve after the mono-black devotion deck that has seen TONS of play and won many pro tours. This deck is post Ravnica so keep that in mind when making suggestions. If this deck gets past playtesting, I will develop a sideboard. I really want this deck to be strong and a formidable deck to play against at FNM, all help is appreciated!!
I really want to know what the community thinks of this deck and what should be added/changed.
Thoughtseize is not in here because I don't own them and if their price comes down from the stratosphere after rotation, a playset will be added.
Deck Breakdown
Dakra Mystic
: the less exciting Underworld Connections as it acts like a draw engine for a little mana. It's also a good turn 1 play as well as lets you see what you opponent is going to have in their hand.
Brain Maggot: it's a Thoughtseize on a stick, that's about it.
Sign in Blood: Card draw for little cost and can target your opponent if you need a little more damage to finish them.
Bile Blight: Pretty much a kill spell. Can also be used to clear out tokens or Elvish Mystics that get too numerous.
Hero's Downfall: Kill spell for planeswalkers or problem creatures. In a pinch it can kill Chasm Skulker so she can explode into squids.
Siren of the Silent Song: Has evasion on a little body. If she can get in for damage, they pay the price.
Read the Bones: Draw the cards you WANT.....for a price.
Dictate of Kruphix: More card draw, but beware because your opponent can use it too.
Chasm Skulker: A ticking time bomb that runs off of the insane amount of cards being drawn.
Squelching Leeches: Doesn't offer much in the line of card draw but I needed a 4 mana creature to fill the spot. When Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth drops, he gets stupid big.
Bident of Thassa: Another card draw engine that ticks off of the evasion our creatures have. It's almost never used to make them attack.
Whip of Erebos: Life gain is great because we use our life total to draw cards and it means we can be further ahead of the opponent.
Silence the Believers: A 4 mana kill spell that gets rid of them for good, and if the game ends up running long, you can get rid of two creatures at once. This card gets around indestructible and helps against Reanimator decks.
Gray Merchant of Asphodel: The all-star of PT Theros, BotG, and JiN, he drops and gains a bunch of life as well as draining the opponent(s). This deck doesn't generate a lot of devotion, but it's just enough to hurt.
Indulgent Tormentor: Some may call him the Desecration Demon of M15, but to me, he's a flying draw engine/bolt. If the opponent can't afford the price, you get more cards. The Chasm Skulker
+
Indulgent Tormentor
combo is very useful in making sure you opponent can't stabilize.
Prognostic Sphinx
: All-Star of the block constructed PT and noted planeswalker killer! He's a cat/wizard/chimera that lets us discard some of the cards we don't need to prevent him from going away. Being a 3/5, he won't die to Anger of the Gods and can fight through most blockers. That scry 3 means that every time he swings in, we can pretty much stack our deck and win.
Island: Provides blue mana, very important.
Swamp: Provides black mana, VERY important.
Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth: Dominaria is BACK and this means we can fix our mana better with making all sorts of black mana for our double black mana symbol cards.
