Declaration in stone is a great card Argeaux. It has saved my butt a few times. I am in the process of building my first competitive modern deck, I've played modern casually, but, I prefer standard, there is just something about crackin a pack! I am trying out a mono-white knight deck for modern, hopefully it works out!

I agree about Declaration in Stone, ocary13.
I basically always Side it in, but I don't Mainboard it so that I can decide what I want it to replace, so that it acts as nasty surprise for my Opponents, and because it makes my already strong deck devasting.
It's always interesting when they finish me off easily in the first game and then realise in the second game that they will probably lose the third.
For the first time since I started playing Stamdard tourneys I am actually thinking about playing this deck in the next season.
Your Modern deck sounds interesting. Hope it plays well for you.

Thanks Argeaux. I use it in mainboard for my standard weenie deck. Need something good to help out the little guys!

Here is my modern deck. Cards came in the mail yesterday!

I think you're overestimating Modern a bit my friend, Argeaux.
Not every match ends on the fourth turn, and surely not every match is decided by the fourth turn. The pros like to generalize things too much. If you have a room full of strong decks and competent pilots it can lead to some very interesting matchups... unless you're watching Tron... then it's just kind of sad.
And to answer you, ocary13, yes. It's really the only good format left. Standard is overpriced and has a meta that is either far too stagnant or far too volatile. Legacy is overpriced and tastes like salt water. ( pun).

TMBRLZ, that's why I am in the process of making the switch from standard to modern. The amount of money I've spent in the last 1.5yrs I could have a killer modern deck! Lol..Argeaux I know you agreed, I was just reiterating the fact, sorry should have pry thrown a comma in there somewhere. Lol

Sorry for helping PlaugeRats tweak his deck and giving you problems with that (Nissa, Gideon, and lots of Deathmist Raptors). :D
A card you might want to consider if you are having issues with token focus decks is Virulent Plague. It is entirely meant for the sideboard as you can see, and will shut them down completely with just one on the board (most of the time at least). I have used it with great success and highly recommend.
Also curious, why are you not making use of Secure the Wastes? It seems like a strong card for you to easily include as another way to kill your opponent. I assume you are just patient enough to try and have Ob do all the work or one of your few creatures do the dead.
June 30, 2016 7:51 a.m.
Any G/W list worth it's salt is main decking Dromoka's Command. On the surface Virulent Plague is amazing, but the reality of it is bad.
To be honest, you'd be better running Drana, Liberator of Malakir or offensive with evasion to combat the suite of planeswalkers.

I wonder how you're going to make use of the EHM cards in this deck
June 30, 2016 10:37 a.m.
razelfark I can easily beat that Raptors deck Post-Sideboard. So much Exile with both Declaration in Stone and Anguished Unmaking.
In fact, people have stopped playing Raptor decks in my local meta due to those two cards.
I've playtested Virulent Plague against GW Tokens and it's useless. Dromoka's Command kills it dead and there ARE actually other things in the deck that aren't Tokens, yet problematic, like Sylvan Advocate.
The other issue is that you only need two Gideon Emblems on the field and Virulent Plague has minimal impact. Once Tokens survive, Nissa is there to pump them up.
I tested Secure the Wastes and it just wasn't as effective as other cards in the deck. Well, at least in my meta.
It just took up slots for far better cards.
If you read back over my match reports, this deck has beaten most of the other recent archetypes. When it hasn't that's mostly been due to misplays by me.
AgentGreen I honestly don't know. I'll wait to see if there are any cards that look strictly better than what I already have because this thing has been working so well.
It has amazing synergy with the available life gain, hand disruption, removal for all types of permanents, etc.
People usually groan when they find out that have been matched up against it.
The only thing I will say is that it has been kind of a disheartening deck to play, from that point of view.
I may even retire it and move on to something new next season. I miss and .

I wouldn't retire it, I'd try to make it better using the EHM cards

Nephalia Academy is going to stop this deck dead in its tracks.
I can get rid of it with Grip of Desolation, but not until late game.

Argeaux I don't really think so. The only card it counters is Duress, as it is the only card that makes them "discard". While the land is a nice effect, it also does force them to choose between giving up the card or slowing down their next draw. So it doesn't completely counter this deck or the usefulness of using Duress.
July 7, 2016 8:04 p.m.
The effect of Duress ripping something permanently from hand is a big part of what it takes for this deck to win.

There are ways around it and I don't think you'll see it played alot. The only affect is that it shields you from hand attack; so I see that card as mostly a sideboard card. It also does not shield the opponent from Transgress so you're ok on that front.
July 8, 2016 10:26 a.m.
Yeah, I'm aware that it doesn't affect Transgress the Mind.

Looking at the EMN cards, there's a few that stand out that could find a place here
Thalia, Heretic Cathar is one, along with the two angels.
Succumb to Temptation just feels right in this deck
July 14, 2016 1:01 p.m.
Succumb isn't bad, but better to play Read the Bones until it falls out over it. Easier mana base plus scry for same costs.
As for the angels... I am not sure I like them because if you get them both on field it just becomes easier target to mess with. Individually they are good so I could see using them.
July 14, 2016 6:48 p.m.
I don't have Read the Bones in so I wouldn't put in Succumb to Temptation.
Thalia, Heretic Cathar doesn't fit the Control aspect of only having a few big hitters that come out quite late in the game.
They are interesting cards, but I wouldn't use them here.

What about Gisela, the Broken Blade and Bruna, the Fading Light. Stall the board till you get both.
One complaint that cost you the last game was creatures, or lack thereof
July 17, 2016 9:36 a.m.
Thanks for the suggestions but I'm not going to change this deck on the back of one bad matchup.
At this stage I'm going to focus my efforts on building a brand new deck.
July 19, 2016 11:57 a.m.
@Argeaux
Congratz for not adhering to the knee jerk reaction a lot of people have.
I would still recommend Eldrazi Displacer for the side though. Cos, GW tokens is a thing (as much as we don't want it to be).
July 19, 2016 12:05 p.m.
So if they swing with an Ormandahl or Gideon? Dec in stone is a 1 shot spell that normally provides them with a clue. Displacer is repeatable and vastly superior than dec against tokens.
This should be painfully obvious, but apparently you need it explaining.Half the appeal of running white with Eldrazi IS FOR Displacer.
This is also forgetting the fact he is using thought-knot seer, i'm not explaining that to you though.

AgentGreen I think that would be a good move.
Being able to tap things other than pain lands is essential for this type of deck, as it usually wins in the mid to late game.
I learnt from experience that relying on pain lands for colour fixing can drop your life total so low that it is easy for Opponents to finish you off.
