You might want Sidisi, Undead Vizier in this deck. It helps return Kalitas, Avacyn, or any must have card from the grave, has deathtouch, and makes Eerie Interlude more fun.

How does that card return Creatures from the 'yard, CloudThumper?

CloudThumper says... #3

Hah! Sorry, misremembered that card...

Oh good.

I'm glad that I'm not going crazy!

I have toyed with the idea of playing something like Gravepurge.

The only thing that stops me is all the Exile currently available.

That's why I've gone for Eerie Interlude instead - try to stop at least some Creatures getting Exiled in the first place.

I quite like this deck but I really like the additions suggested in a channel fireball list.

He had a 2 of Relentless Dead and 4 Fleshbag Marauder

The synergy between the two cards is fantastic, you can also sac them to kalista.

Additionally flashback helps with flipping avacyn which I think is important.

Cashmerefsb I'm interested.

Do you know what I would take out?

I'm sorry if I came off wrong. I wasn't trying to get you to play to get the delerium, only trying to make more of a case for Transgress the Mind. I'm happy to see you added it! I think this is the best possible deck you could achieve based on what you're saying.

That being said, I like what Cashmerefsb said. Perhaps sub in the 3xFleshbag Marauder for 3xTo the Slaughter and then 2xRelentless Dead for 1xGrasp of Darkness and 1xDead Weight or if you're set on keeping To the Slaughter get ride of all the Dead Weight instead since you aren't running any delerium with Transgress the Mind?

Just my thoughts. I really was just asking more about you, your LGS, and what you're going for. I don't mean to change what you hope to achieve with this deck. I really like it and am just genuinely interested in how you thought it would play against some of those decks. :) If I'm bothering you I can stop commenting, I only want to help!

With the current swarm tactics common in Standard I am not so sure of Fleshbag Marauder, but Relentless Dead seems like a good inclusion as it is capable of dealing some damage, and can block almost indefinitely.

Argy says... #9

That's my concern with Fleshbag Marauder.

Great against some decks, hopeless against a field of tokens.

No need to apologise KyleM. Your Comments have been very helpful.

I will do some testing with Relentless Dead, see if I like it.

Cashmerefsb says... #10

While it's not great against tokens it again provides a guaranteed Wat to flip avacyn which is good vrs tokens.

Argy says... #11

I'll do some testing to see if I like it.

The deck tests very well at the moment, against a variety of decks.

That includes Madness/Control decks that run Jace, Vryn's Prodigy  Flip.

I'm very interested by this deck. I'm also playing / testing BW Control currently and our lists are so shockingly different.

Is Dead Weight standard legal?

If not, if I wanted to play this in standard, I'd swap it with maybe Visions of Brutality

Argy says... #15

Just did an interesting Playtest against a Control deck.

My deck had the edge because I could keep looking at their hand and ripping cads from it.

Here's the deck: A myth realized in the ice

AgentGreen, Dead Weight is ABOUT to become Standard legal.

It's in Shadows Over Innistrad, which is why I put the SOI next to my deck name.

Dalektable I'll give your deck a look. Love your username!

If you are playing a lot of casual decks maybe give Necromantic Summons another thought. It returns target creature from "a graveyard" it doesn't have to be your Kalitas. It may be some juicy creature you killed with your Ob Nixilis or something else. I know the look on my oponnent's face when I killed his Siege Rhino, brought it back on the battlefield with +2/+2, get the ETB trigger and killed him with it. Definetly worth it ;).

Dalektable I looked at your deck and our lists have a lot of crossover.

I've just gone for permanent Exile in places where you haven't, and you're aiming to get more Creatures and Planeswalkers on the field than me.

How about Ruinous Path?

March 26, 2016 1:08 p.m.

Looks like a pretty solid deck, however I recommend possibly swapping one or more copies of Tainted Remedy out for a copy of Hallowed Moonlight to shut down Collected Company decks, which people seem to think will be fairly powerful when SOI comes out. As for replacing the remedy, I only picked that card because lifegain is not very prevalent in my local meta, though it might be very different in yours, in which case I would totally understand your choice. Unfortunately, I'm fairly new to MTG in general, so it's probably worth taking anything I say with a grain of salt.

March 26, 2016 1:59 p.m.

You do have a solid point, ExplosivesAreUs. I wouldn't discount it so quickly. ;)

March 26, 2016 2:10 p.m.

AgentGreen says... #21

Not just CC decks ExplosivesAreUs

There's ALOT of RTB from graveyard cards in SOI; Moonlight may be an excellent means to punish that play

March 26, 2016 3:23 p.m.

Argy says... #22

Life gain is insane in my local meta.

Hallowed Moonlight is a good suggestion. I will wait to see whether enough people are using the relevant cards to warrant its inclusion in the Sideboard.

I have tested against decks with CoCo and they haven't provided much of a challenge.

I think people aren't taking into account my cards that can rip spells from the Opponent's hand. Duress and Transgress the Mind can both take CoCo away.

If it slips through it brings two Creatures to the field. One I can pretty much shut down right away with spot removal. I usually have enough removal to wipe both of them off the board by Turn 4.

Ruinous Path is not necessary since I have Transgress the Mind, To the Slaughter, and Anguished Unmaking. They can all do a similar job as Ruinous Path, but with added flexibility for dealing with other types of cards as well.

March 26, 2016 10:26 p.m.

Then again, Ruinous Path is more targeted and has a wincon built in if you need it.

Duress might need pitched because of how often you'll reveal a hand full of junk and Madness.

March 26, 2016 10:42 p.m.

Argy says... #24

Duress has been working wonderfully.

Even if I can't remove anything, looking at an Oppornent's hand gives value.

Knowledge is a resource in MtG.

Duress also gives me an edge in Control match ups.

It gets rid of removal, CoCo, Plqneswalkerd, Enchantments, etc.

March 27, 2016 2:49 a.m.

Remember - it's not a May. You could find yourself in a really bad spot against a lot of decks running madness. I know it gives value by knowledge, but in the meta coming up it could be... less profitable. I'm still on the fence about it for that.
