I guess we'll see once when the next rotation comes around.

What do you think of swapping out a languish for Planar Outburst as an actual hard sweeper since -4 cant always do it and late game it is another wincon

March 27, 2016 8:46 a.m.

Argy says... #4

I've got Planar Outburst in the Sideboard.

If I need them in I will probably move all the Languish out.

I'd prefer not to have to hit all my Creatures for removal, if possible.

I know Archangel Avacyn could help with that, but I don't want to rely on it.

I don't see some of the most effective black or white control spells in the list or having been considered yet. Cards like Transgress the Mind, Silkwrap, Stasis Snare, or from SOI Sinister Concoction. I mean, I get that you're trying to capitalize off killing things and making zombies with Kalitas, but then you shouldn't be running Anguished Unmaking or Declaration in Stone either I feel like. Or am I completely missing something?

icefire033 says... #6

my bad, i just saw transgress in the main. Nix that suggestion, heh.

March 27, 2016 10:38 a.m.

Argy says... #7

For all the work I have to do to get Sinister Concoction to do its thing I can simply cast a card for the same result.

Silkwrap and Stasis Snare are both useful, but again I'd rather just get rid of an annoying card entirely than risk it coming back.

I've been burned one too many times by Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger wiping my Enchantments off the field.

Anguished Unmaking hits Enchantments, Artifacts, Planeswalkers, Indestructible Creatures, Deathmist Raptor, Hangarback Walker - all stuff I don't want to see again.

I have enough other spells to feed Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet.

Fair enough. About Sinister Concoction though...It's not much work. 2 mana destroy creature, half instant speed (if you already have the ench down) and it fuels delirium for your To the Slaughters. Not only that but its a destroy effect to power Kalitas as well

Argy says... #9

My two reservations are that I lose two cards and that, since it's out on the field, my Opponents could get rid of it or, at the very least, work around it.

I'll think about it.

Eerie interlude only blinks your own creatures, why would you use it?

This deck is ridiculously good. I can't beat it. The discard is too strong. Dead Weight is super underrated. Here is what I was testing against this:

I would appreciate any advice for that to be able to compete against your deck. I feel the only way to do it is with more discard of my own.

Anyway great deck man.

I didn't see Gideon, Ally of Zendikar on your discussed list. Considering it was a strong piece of BW control why leave him out of this build? Is Sorrin that much better then Gideon especially considering the cost?

March 28, 2016 1:35 a.m.

Argy says... #13

I did have Gideon, Ally of Zendikar in an earlier version of this deck.

Since I'm not Creature-heavy his Emblem didn't help me as much as it would in other builds.

His ability to make Tokens was good, as was the fact that he could turn into a 5/5 Indestructible Creature. Although the amount of Exile around often got the better of him when he turned.

In the end it came down to how many Planeswalkers I wanted to run.

Both Ob Nixilis Reignited and Sorin, Grim Nemesis offered both card draw and a way to get rid of Opponent Creatures, so I went with them.

KazicGreyhelm Eerie Interlude is there to do exactly what you suggested - save my Creatures.

It only gets sided in against a deck that has a tonne of Creature removal.

xxINS4NExWoC thanks for the compliments! I'll take a look at your deck later and see if I can make some suggestions for beating this one.

It's no biggie but I prefer gender-neutral terms to "man". They are more inclusive.

Sorry my bad. I didn't mean any offense by it. It's something I have been accustomed to saying to end some sentences. But thanks for giving it a look

Argeaux

I see in the older comments that Tainted Remedy is a counter for major lifegain decks. How often do you (expect to) see them in your meta? 4x seems extreme, I would suggest 1-2x if lifegain is popular, which opens up your sideboard to a bit more variety

I like the idea of Eldrazi Displacer here (i know you considered it already) but you have 6 colorless sources, and it's either is dealt with by your opponent or protects your creatures/taps your opponents creatures down. Either option seems like a win.

Speaking of Eerie Interlude because your only non-token creatures are legendary, could Center Soul be more useful? with rebound it gives extra benefit and has a bit more flexibility.

I see that your creatures getting exiled is a concern, but unless they are in white, exile is limited. Foul Renewal is a recovery/removal SB option for those non-exile focused decks.

Center Soul is a VERY good suggestion.

I like it a lot.

In my meta 90% of the decks rely on life gain. Not even kidding. I rarely play a deck that doesn't have it.

That being said, there is also a lot of . Hence why Exile is always uppermost in my mind when building.

Apparently EVERYBODY has to run Felidar Sovereign.

(rolls eyes)

I had the same thoughts as you about Eldrazi Displacer, but in the end I decided to go for a non-creature spell.

Thanks for your Comments. Good talk.

Im sitting here thinking i really really like this deck who made it then i saw it was you lol. But i have one built just like it and i was thinking about adding the same cards you added that are Coming out in SOI but i wont be running Avacyn i run 4 Erebos's Titan a big body for 4 mana that absolutely makes them say "well fuck"

Thanks as always fluffyisgod.

We'll be partners in annoying crime this expansion!

March 28, 2016 5:59 a.m.

Have you considered expanding to Esper? Epiphany at the Drownyard is ridiculous card advantage and it offers a lot of sideboard options in control mirrors.

I really don't think we can support the life loss of 4 anguish. I think 1-2 is gunna be the limit in the main deck. I'd love to be proved wrong, but I just don't see it.

March 28, 2016 2:53 p.m.

Cashmerefsb says... #23

Also the abbey seems almost useless in this build, you have no token generators to get it going. And paying 1 life and 6 mana for a 1/1 means you're probably losing that game.

March 28, 2016 3:45 p.m.

I'm not entirely sure I would play Duress main. It's absolutely a 4 of in the sideboard though. Guess it depends on your meta really since it's amazing vs control but pretty bad against aggro decks. I have a similar idea for b/w control but it's more Eldrazi focused. Check it out and let me know what you think! B/W Eldrazi Control/Midrange

Cashmerefsb you're overlooking Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet; every time a creature dies on the opponent's side a zombie token is generated.

Combo that off with languish making sure Kalitas can survive the -4 toughness, and you can get your 5 tokens needed to flip the abbey
