I'm a newer player of Magic: The Gathering, and I'm trying to make my first deck. I bought the "Swarming Instinct" Blue/Green deck to get started, and I really liked the idea of sacrificing the 1/1 Eldrazi Scion tokens to pump out my bigger cards. I also like the playstyle of many Black decks. So, I decided I would create a Black/Green sacrifice deck. After some research, I found a few decks that looked like what I was thinking of. Once I'd done a bit of tinkering with different card combinations, I came up with this.
-DESCRIPTION OUT OF DATE; WILL BE UPDATED SOON-
The main idea of the deck is to sacrifice your smaller creatures and tokens to buff up your Nantuko Husk and give it unblockable with Rogue's Passage to kill the opponent. Blisterpod, Carrier Thrall, and
Sultai Emissary
are all small, cheap creatures that can be sacrificed multiple times because of the tokens they summon upon death. Catacomb Sifter is really good at getting you just the card you need. It also creates an Eldrazi Scion token when it's played, which is always helpful. Smothering Abomination is your main method of card draw and synergizes well with Catacomb Sifter. From Beyond is another core card to the deck that gives you more sacrificial pawns at the start of every turn, and allows you to dig for a Catacomb Sifter, Smothering Abomination, or more importantly, your Birthing Hulk, which is your largest creature (that doesn't require any sacrificing). Bone Splinters,
Ultimate Price
, and
Complete Disregard
are your main removals.
Complete Disregard
is good enough to cover the small removal against most decks, so you should try to save Bone Splinters and
Ultimate Price
for larger threats. Altar's Reap and Evolutionary Leap are used for more card draw and sacrifice enablers.
I like the general idea of the deck, and feel most of the creatures are strong, but I'm having trouble pinning down how many of each creature I should have. I'm also unsure of what spells and lands I should be using.
Please remember, this is just a casual deck that I'll be playing with against my friends. I'm not really too worried about the formats for the time being, as I don't plan on attending any tournaments any time soon.
