No problem seeing them here SirFowler.

Deck lists are fine. Although I don't think anyone should be able to change their lists once they see the others. Should be locked in.

You are allowed to edit your deck up until play officially begins. Then deck lists are locked in.

I won't prohibit people from editing their deck just because the lists would go out. However, editting your deck to specifically smack your opponents is highly frowned upon. This is a casual tourney. You won't get any prize for winning.

Not to mention, no one will be able to edit their decks that well to beat 15 other specific decks. Until the matchups are posted, there really isn't any way to know who you'll be going up against. And matchups being posted means the official beginning of play.

NoviceMagician, I didn't see the nerfed version of her, so my apologies. It's still too strong. Get back your Shriekmaw, your Seal of Doom, your fetchlands, your creatures you sacc'd to Birthing Pod to fill out your deck, your Scourge of Fleets, your Deadeye Navigator that everyone and their mother thought was blessedly and finally dead. It gives you combo security for BloodBond, etc. Dredge is stupidly strong as a mechanic, which is why we see cards like Golgari Grave-Troll be banned in modern for 3, 4 years and be extremely prevalent in Legacy and Vintage. I'd love to see a limitation placed on it, so that you can dredge 1 card per turn during your draw step only. That would be fair, because it doesn't turn Erebos or Greed to read: (or ), pay 2 life, put the top card of your library into your graveyard: Return the one most powerful or relevant creature, planeswalker, enchantment or artifact from your graveyard to your hand.

And let's not even get started on its ability to combo with Doubling Season and planeswalker ultimates. Repeatedly grabbing Vraska ultimates, Garruk, Caller of Beasts ultimates, giving everyone a Garruk, Apex Predator emblem, etc. is not okay by any stretch of the imagination.

Long story short, it just does too much for any 1 card to do. It grants combo security, forcing players to have to exile graveyards or run asinine amounts of exile-based removal to stop a deck like this.

Sorry about the rant, I'm tired and cranky today after having to work 2 hours overtime.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking about. Thanks for pointing that out.

No need to be sorry about anything. I am completely open to any and all forms of discussion and concerns. I want to try and make this a fun experience for everyone, so I need all the participants to help out by telling me their concerns. So don't be sorry at all, in fact, thank you for telling me all this.

1 card per turn during draw step.... Hmmmm, I think that could work. Unfortunately I can't contact Daedalus right now, but when he returns I will talk to him.

Thanks for all of the input on Sidisi guys, and remember to never be afraid to voice any concern. :)

At the same time, I think having the requirement of having to be in the graveyard and the 1 per turn during draw makes it really bad.

What about removing the graveyard requirement? Changing it back to the original of being either in the graveyard, or on the field?

I think something's wrong on my end. I can only see Daed's, Vamp's, mine, JA's, and ninja's commanders. However the rest are just showing up as broken links.

NoviceMagician says... #8

Sorry Fowler, nothing I can do about that.

JA14732 says... #9

NoviceMagician, I agree with removing the "Sidisi in the GY" requirement, but restricting it is important. Besides, there's already enough ways in Sultai to chunk her into the GY (Flash not paying, Birthing Pod, Natural Order, Evolutionary Leap, Ashnod's Altar, etc.) and just like Oloro she's safer in another zone than the graveyard.

I just really don't want to see a degenerate combo commander come out with a lot of redundancy, because that's no fun for anyone.

July 9, 2015 11:40 p.m.

So we agreed that GY or field would be fine?

Or make it field only?

July 9, 2015 11:45 p.m.

JA14732 says... #11

Both is fine. The nerf to her dredge ability is a big enough nerf to allow her to dredge from either.

July 9, 2015 11:46 p.m.

Thanks for input, like I said, I'll talk to Daedalus when I gets the chance.

July 10, 2015 12:09 a.m.

Or you could just run Stasis...

I'm going to a funeral right now, in a tiny town that has almost no internet. I will defend my commander later, but it's not as broken as you think (cards with dredge are broken, but usually when they have a high number), and I don't intend to build the deck powerfully. Plus Necropotence doesn't work with dredge, people!

July 10, 2015 9:35 a.m.

SirFowler says... #15

Right, I just noticed the Necropotence clause where you don't draw but exile then put them into your hand. However, Greed is still really powerful with dredge.

July 10, 2015 12:50 p.m.

JA14732 says... #16

Even still, dredge is such a strong mechanic that, as a form of instant recursion, combo resilience and redundancy that can occur almost as an instant needs to be stopped. If it was limited to being at sorcery "speed," then I'd be fine with it. But, considering that your commander turns your GY into your hand with minimal investment, it's currently far and away the strongest commander. Excluding whatever NoviceMagician came up with.

Now that everyone's up and arms about dredge, I'm kinda feeling bad because I made my deck into a dredge deck. It's kind of difficult to make sultai not a dredge based deck. If anyone wants me to change my deck mechanics, I will. I don't want to make the game not fun for anyone. Based on everyone's comments, I feel dredge is one of the most hated in edh.

At least neither of you are running infect lol

July 10, 2015 3:13 p.m.

SirFowler says... #19

Infect and control are my 2 least favorite mechanics of magic. To be able to get around certain rules and to prolong the game is just unnatural.

July 10, 2015 3:18 p.m.

I love control, JA14732 can attest to that. I do however, acknowledge that it isn't always fun to play against. Dredge is ok unless your commander is turning the graveyard into a second library. Personally, if you are just using official dredge cards, I wouldn't mind, although that might just be me

July 10, 2015 3:25 p.m.

Casey4321 says... #21

Yea my big worry os my commander is based on sacrifice based conrrol.

July 10, 2015 3:29 p.m.

Don't forget what my commander does =D. I'm proud..... much too proud

July 10, 2015 3:37 p.m.

Like I said, second library. Although JA had a better analogy. If it was limited to once or twice per draw step, even without only on the battlefield or only being in the yard, I wouldn't mind.

I might be wrong, but I think ninjaman16782 wants to have this as his commander image:
