Oooooooooo. Casey said that the next 2 weeks would be weird for him. Whoops, totally forgot.
Well, if you're there Casey4321, let me know, otherwise a replacement may be used if you are absent when the rest of your group can play.

@Devinske, yep, that commander is fine. The only thing is that I'll be checking to make sure you aren't dropping in turn 2 or turn 3 Eldrazi with the activated ability. But other than that, it's fine.
EDIT- It has been added to the commander spoiler in the description. Work on your deck list when you get the chance.

I am still here and I still want to play but I'm away from my computer for this weekend I just found out today. So if you guys want to play and a replacement is found I will have no ill will about it. I apologize for the inconvenience,

@Novice, are you sure Devinske's commander is alright? I mean, for 3 mana he can put an kozilek into play. That seems pretty powerful.
July 17, 2015 2:44 p.m.
No way that commander is okay. Shits out a Kozilek turn 3? Perfect card advantage? Turns a Consecrated Sphinx into a discard engine? Needs nerf.

Whoa whoa whoa whoa. In no way am I okay with that commander. Black has all of the searching to break that entirely in half.
Even more than it already is.

Even without the second ability, his first ability is absurdly broken! He needs a rebuild from the ground up.
Neither ability is acceptable.

@Casey4321, don't worry, play isn't expected to start immediately when I say "go," so a weekend away won't be any problem. Thanks for letting us know.
@Everyone Else
Welp, surprise, I already had a way in mind to nerf abilities because ya know, I'm not entirely stupid. So that change will be instituted, and also, CMC = 5, but I agree, turn 6 is still early for Eldrazi to wreck balls.
Anyway, Devinske, it'll have to be changed to:
"~ability cost~: Put a token onto the battlefield that's a copy of target creature an opponent discarded this turn."
And the first ability to:
"Discard a card: Target opponent discards a card. If they can't, he or she loses 1 life."
Repost/link me to the edited version when you can.

In a format where resolving a Hermit Druid turn 1 is usually a gg, you never know what someone might pull off, Novice.
July 17, 2015 4:34 p.m.
I would say instead of discarded it should say put into the graveyard from hand or something. It seems like just discarding it doesn't take into account the replacement effect that some Eldrazi spells have. Because with Kozilek, it doesn't go to the graveyard even though it was discarded, it's shuffled into the library instead.
July 17, 2015 4:37 p.m.
@JA14732 This is a casual tournament, so I highly doubt someone is going to try the turn 1 druid combo. However, if they do, then why would we get angry? Like I said, casual. You don't win any money or prizes, it's just for fun.

@JA14732, I fail to see how that addresses the changes I've instituted.
But you are right, I never know what someone might try to pull off. Which is why I put all my trust into all 16 of you to build fairly, casually, and in the mindset of the entire table having fun.
@SirFowler, the current change already works. Making it say just enter the graveyard doesn't solve the problem because it can still be used to cast 98% of all the black creatures for only 3 mana, even if they cost 100 mana.
July 17, 2015 4:46 p.m.
@NoviceMagician Yeah, I didn't read your change clearly. I thought it still applied to him.

I like your modified version! (where you can copy someone else's discarded card)
Probably not good enough (you can discard non-creature cards to nerf it) but it's a good starting point.
The abilities have more cohesion now as well.
July 17, 2015 4:56 p.m.
I feel like we're picking on each others commanders way to much. Some nerfing is ok, but to cut it down to nothing just leaves it worse than some of the Legends set bad.

Yeah, what Fowler said. Everyone is dwelling too much on the potential other commanders hold. But they aren't taking one second to stop and say, "Hey wait a minute, my commander is pretty powerful too."
The modified version stays.

I think that we should actually increase the power of that first ability slightly, especially if you have to tap to use it. Otherwise people will just discard non-creature cards and the second ability won't be able to be used.
July 17, 2015 5:30 p.m.
I was going to have that last part of the second ability LiveForChaos said but that text on the card was small at that point. Also, making it so if only activates once a turn nerfs a lot I was going to use like Soul Ransom.
July 17, 2015 6:33 p.m.
How about the first ability being:
- Whenever you draw a card, pay where X is the amount of times this ability has activated this turn, minus 1, then target opponent discards a card or pays 1 life.
Then the second ability being:
- , Discard a card: Put a token onto the battlefield that is a copy of target creature discarded this turn with converted mana cost X, except it's a Shade in addition to it's other types
July 17, 2015 6:42 p.m.
Wait, I got it.... Maybe...
Whenever you draw your first card on your draw step or a spell or ability allows you to draw a card, target opponent discards a card or loses 1 life
, , Discard a card: Put target creature with converted mana cost 6 or less that was discarded this turn onto the graveyard under your control but it is a Shade in addition to it's other types.

@NoviceMagician Didn't 2 people drop? Or is one of the people who said they couldn't make it have an opportunity to play?
