Using Gavin Verhey's deck from his Infinity on a Budget ReConstructed article for inspiration. Here's a link to it: http://archive.wizards.com/Magic/magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/rc/238
The deck functions exactly the same as Verhey's, except there's more ways to go infinite.
Infinite mana:
Aphetto Alchemist
+
Arbor Elf
+
Illusionist's Bracers
.
You can also use Elvish Mystic instead of Arbor for infinite green mana.
Infinite damage:
Aphetto Alchemist + Illusionist's Bracers + Prodigal Sorcerer
Infinite card draw:
Aphetto Alchemist
+
Archivist
+
Illusionist's Bracers
And you can also use Illusionist's Bracers + Kiora's Follower + Kiora's Follower
to activate the same combos.
Game Plan
The deck has the ability to win by turn three and, through play testing, usually wins by/before turn nine. Here's the turn three win:
Hand:
Breeding Pool
, x2 Arbor Elf,
Aphetto Alchemist
, Illusionist's Bracers, and
Increasing Confusion
Turn 1: You need to draw a land here, everything except Evolving Wilds will do. You play
Breeding Pool
untapped and Arbor Elf.
Turn 2: Play another land (Hopefully you drew one this turn, if not the last turn), play the second Arbor Elf and
Aphetto Alchemist
, using the first Elf's ability to untap a Forest for the extra mana.
Turn 3: Pray that you get your third land. Play it, tap two to play Illusionist's Bracers, then tap your two Elves and get the three mana you need (including the land you hopefully just played) to equip the Alchemist with the Bracers. Tap him, untap an Elf and himself, now you have infinite mana! Use it for
Increasing Confusion
, and GG!
There are plenty of ways to get the infinite combos online, all you need to do is assemble the pieces and you're good to go! Ponder and
Archivist
really help with that, as well as Evoliving Wilds thinning out the deck a bit. The mana acceleration with Arbor Elf and Elvish Mystic help to get everything you need out quickly, and Zameck Guildmage can buff your creatures when you play them (to help against aggressive strategies, if need be), or can straight up be your win-con when you have the infinite mana flowing, allowing you to drop a creature with infinite +1/+1 counters so you can draw your deck and win with Laboratory Maniac.
This deck was one of my first forays into the world of Magic and I always look for ways to improve on it when new sets come out, so any and all suggestions, comments, questions, and +1s are greatly appreciated.
