Sideboard

An ultra-budget (~$50) deck that utilizes Minotaur tribal synergies with discard and madness effects. Minotaur as a tribe suffer from the very unfortunate issue of being an aggressive tribe with only one 1-drop and five 2-drops legal in Pioneer, so don't expect this deck to be spiking any tournaments, but it's a lot of fun to play and will cost you very little to build.

All suggestions and critiques are welcome!

  • Gnarled Scarhide is the only one-drop minotaur ever printed. Luckily, they're actually playable, as their no-blocking downside is rarely relevant, and you'll find yourself using the bestow ability far more often than you'd expect.
  • Bloodrage Brawler an unexceptional two-drop that can help fuel our discard synergies and provide us a fairly beefy cow.
  • Burning-Fist Minotaur another unexceptional two-drop that can help us discard cards when needed.
  • Neheb, the Worthy is a solid minotaur lord that works extremely well with all of our discard effects.
  • Rageblood Shaman is our typical +1/+1 tribal lord that gives our cows trample to boot.
  • Glint-Horn Buccaneer is a hasty minotaur that acts as both an engine and payoff for our discard synergies.
  • Neheb, Dreadhorde Champion is a big creature that can fuel us into the late game and deal massive damage to our opponents when paired with Glint-Horn Buccaneer.
  • Fiery Temper is usually a bolt in a format where bolt isn't legal.
  • Infernal Grasp is instant speed removal for . Enough said.
  • Thrill of Possibility provides some card advantage and discard synergies
  • Bag of Holding is an instant-speed discard engine that can also help us with card advantage, potentially on a massive scale in the late game.
  • Deathbellow War Cry is the dream we desperately want to be more than a meme. Most games you'll probably just cycle this away to the discard pile if you draw it, but in a stalled match that goes long or a mana-flood that you happen to survive through, there's enough power here to win the game on its own.
  • Call of the Death-Dweller can bring back most of our minotaurs against a removal-laden opponent.
  • Crippling Fear is a one-sided board wipe against most aggro and zoo strategies.
  • Duress is a great swap-in against opponents packing a lot of removal or very few creatures.
  • Rakdos Charm helps us deal with pretty much anything else.
