Deck Name Show

I was trying to think of things that were long and annoying for name because that’s how it will be to play against me. It will be hard to attack me and I have an annoying amount of board wipes that don’t hit me. The first thing I thought of was The Fitness Gram Pacer Test

Why Arcades? Show

I haven’t played magic since last summer, but my friend invited me to the M19 prerelease. I went and made more than my money back between promo Death Baron, Crucible of Worlds, some other bulks, and you guessed it Arcades, the Strategist. I’ve always wanted to get into commander and since I didn’t want a deck no one would play against I thought he was perfect, so I immediately jumped on gatherer to search for all the cool defenders I get to play! Boy was I disappointed. Soon after, I realized all the combo potential Arcades, Axebane Guardian, and Overgrown Battlement. Now, here we are.

Gameplan Show

Obviously by the deck’s hubs you know there’s some combos in here and we have tutors and multiple draw effecs in here to get there, but luckily there’s a backup if that doesn’t work. Our backup plan is to just hit their face with my giant tough defenders.

Lands Show

Nothing too special here besides maybe Halimar Depths which can help us set up our turns. We also have Miren, the Moaning Well which just kind of made since in a deck based on creatures with huge toughness.

Counters Show

Insidious Will can either counter a spell or let us play the card ourselves. Plasm Capture if we hit the right card can let us explode on our next turn.

Utility Show

Angelic Shield boosts our creatures and can potentially salvage one of creatures should they need salvaged. Asceticism makes us very resilient to targeted removal and can regenerate our creatures who die from wrath’s or combat damage. Assault Formation is a backup Arcades and more as he can help us really punch in some damage. Brago, King Eternal + Eerie Interlude can both get us some extra Arcades triggers, but eerie can also save us from Wrath’s. Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive makes most of our creatures unblockable.

FGPT Show

These are all cards that shut out or wipe out pretty much any deck that isn’t ours.

Ramp Show

We all know what these cards do, but here are the best ones; Axebane Guardian, Overgrown Battlement, and Sylvan Caryatid.

WinCons Show

Basilica Guards + Blind Obedience both help us kill people with extort. Blue Sun's Zenith helps us draw people out. Doorkeeper helps out mill people out.

Walls Show

There’s a large selection of good walls, but not very many great ones. I picked the ones that best fit my gameplan. Here are the ones I like most;

Combo Pieces Show

Cloudstone Curio can bounce defenders or go infinite with Village Bell-Ringer. Freed from the Real + Pemmin's Aura both make infinite mana with Axebane Guardian. Intruder Alarm + Paradox Engine really? Lol. Temur Sabertooth can keep bouncing Village Bell-Ringer.

Tutors Show

Drift of Phantasms is also a defender. Muddle the Mixture is also a counterspell.

Nonbudget Includes Show

Aluren, Misty Rainforest, Flooded Grove, Mystic Gate, Wooded Bastion, Savannah, Tropical Island, Tundra, Breeding Pool, Hallowed Fountain, and Temple Garden.

Conclusion Show
