Kaalia, Vengeance Seeker

"I'll have my revenge if I have to call on every force from above and below"

Kaalia of the Vast is a powerful commander that works off Underworld Breach, Ad Nauseam, Dockside Extortionist or B.A.D (Breach, Ad Nauseam, Dockside) with black // red reanimator themes driving the deck forward into a win condition. Which layers well with the demons its running, plus efficient creature and flicker options given by white, Kaalia cheating in win conditions past prison effects and counterspells. The list ends up being very versitile and not to be underestimated.

Typically I use Underworld Breach combos or Breach lines to dig for either a Leonin Relic-Warder loop or a Dualcaster Mage + Twinflame to cast from grave for a win. The primary line of play goes as follows, (side note: you can do it with Lotus Petal in place of LED(Lion's Eye Diamond) it's just less efficient.)

Result: Infinite looting. Near infinite storm count. Near Infinite colored mana.

Requires: Underworld Breach and Lion's Eye Diamond in hand. Wheel of Fortune in graveyard. required mana available. At least 3 other cards in graveyard.

Steps:

  • 1st // Cast Underworld Breach and Lion's Eye Diamond.
  • 2nd // Sacrifice Lion's Eye Diamond, adding .
  • 3rd // Cast Wheel of Fortune from your graveyard with escape, exiling 3 cards for your graveyard and drawing 7 cards.
  • 4th // Recast Lion's Eye Diamond with escape, exiling 3 cards from graveyard and sacrifice it for , discarding your hand. Repeat.
Result: Infinite ETB. Infinite LTB. Infinite life loss. Infinite sacrifice triggers. Infinite death triggers.

Requires: Mayhem Devil on the battlefield. Leonin Relic-Warder in graveyard. Animate dead effect (Animate Dead // Necromancy) in hand. Required mana available.

Steps:

  • 1st // Cast Animate Dead effect, targeting Leonin Relic-Warder.
  • 2nd // Leonin Relic-Warder enters the battlefield, targeting Animate Dead effect.
  • 3rd // Animate Dead effect gets exiled, forcing you to sacrifice Leonin Relic-Warder.
  • 4th // Mayhem Devil triggers, making target player take 1 damage.
  • 5th // Leonin Relic-Warder leaves the battlefield, returning Animate Dead effect to the battlefield and reanimating Leonin Relic-Warder again.
Result: Infinite creature tokens with haste. Infinite ETB.

Requires: Both cards in hand. available. You control a creature.

Steps:

  • 1st // Cast Twinflame targeting a creature you control.
  • 2nd // With Twinflame on the stack, cast Dualcaster Mage targeting Twinflame.
  • 3rd // Allow Dualcaster Mage's ability to resolve, copying Twinflame and creating a copy of Dualcaster Mage.
  • 4th // The new token copy of Dualcaster Mage triggers targeting the original copy of Twinflame, and resolves to create another token copy of Dualcaster Mage.
  • 5th // Repeat steps 2-4 to make infinite hasty token copies of Dualcaster Mage.
Ad Nauseam and Peer into the Abyss work as one card win conditions that can win the game with a perfectly sculpted hand. These can be cast super early with rituals and fast mana.
This is a powerful card advantage effect at intant speed that can win on its own due to the fact that you choose how many cards you get, at the cost of life equal to the cmc of the cards revealed. This is the Naus in Turbo Naus strategies, thats just how powerful this card is.
A similar effect to Ad Nauseam with a benefit, normaly with ad naus your life total effects how many cards you get, more life = more cards into hand. No matter what your life total is you get the full effect of Peer into the Abyss, the main downside is that its a risk if it gets redirected or stopped and the cmc is high which is mitigated with fast mana // rituals.
Rune-Scarred Demon, Razaketh, the Foulblooded, Vilis, Broker of Blood, and last but not least Doom Whisperer, these 4 demons are the reason she is called "Demon Hunter Kaalia". All 4 demons emulate or is a powerful card advantage // tutor effect that enables the win condition with the right support in hand.
Most simply its a Demonic Tutor on an etb, functionally Kaalia plus almost any black tutor can win the game. Kaalia swinging in with a Rune-Scarred to get whichever combo piece is missing, this is one of the first competitive combos in her arsenal that has remained a strong line of play.
This is a repeatable Diabolic Intent that cost life on a creature, for Kaalia most of the lines of play are centered around only a single sacrifice. This is due to the fact that the most efficient way to summon Razaketh is by cheating him into play with Kaalia's triggered ability and at that point it is very likely that she will be the only creature we have to sacrifice too him.
This guy is considered a near functional Griselbrand, this is due to Vilis with life loss effects like Fire Covenant and Doom Whisperer draw a lot of cards. Children of Korlis helps with the life loss.
Functionally its a black Brain Freeze to feed Underworld Breach by milling the combo pieces into grave, then casting from grave to start the combo. Once again Children of Korlis with Doom Whisperer enables you to dig 40+ cards into the deck.
