Hey Fran_RuGu, when you''re in a control heavy meta I'd consider cards like: Stranglehold, Defense Grid, Blast Zone, Homeward Path, Sanctum of Eternity, Artifact Blast, Magus of the Moon, Mogg Salvage, Burnout even cards like Alpine Moon are an option if they're running things like The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale or pillowfort cards like Glacial Chasm or get them with some poke damage with things like Mutavault. There are alot more cards that can go inside your 99 in control heavy metas.
Your suggestions with Deflecting Swat and Sudden Shock are quite viable. From my experience the card which gets countered the most is Krenko, Mob Boss and in this case the Deflecting Swat is kinda expensive but in a control heavy meta I'd say still viable.

I apologize if I overlooked the reason, but what's the purpose of Snow-Covered Mountains versus traditional Mountains?
July 28, 2020 12:58 p.m.
Snow-Covered Mountain stay for the Extraplanar Lens (Look at the Maybeboard). If you Imprint a Snow-Covered Mountain you will get the Benefit/Ramp alone if each other plays Mountain, you wont give an Opponent some exta .

That's correct. You can even switch em out for traditional Mountain in case the enemys are running Snow-Covered Mountain that only you gain the extra . It's some sort of mindgame when you're playing with the same group and neat little bonus.

Ok so I am not a cEDH player, but I was just a bit confused as to why there are fetch lands in a mono-colored deck with from what I can see no benefits from having them. Isn't it just a waste of life to play a fetch over just a basic? Or is it just like a flex?

HorseTribalLord The point of playing all the possible fetches is that you thin out your deck to increase the chances of drawing something else than lands. Or when you use something like Sensei's Divining Top and don't like what you see, you just crack a fetch, shuffle up and check the top again.

Like I wrote in the section about the mana base "I use every "fast" fetch land available for red Arid Mesa, Bloodstained Mire, Prismatic Vista and Scalding Tarn along with Wooded Foothills to allow you to shuffle your deck, remove dead cards following a Sensei's Divining Top activation or reshuffle your stacked deck because of an early Goblin Recruiter. Playing fetch lands in a mono-coloured deck helps to reduce the overall number of lands in the library later in the game and increase the odds of drawing the card you want rather than a land"

For some more card draw, have you considered the new Wheel of Misfortune from Commander Legends? Its definitely more limited than Wheel of Fortune, particularly as it doesn't force your opponents to wheel whether or not they want to, as you mentioned in your primer, but I think it could still be a perfectly serviceable and unassumingly powerful addition for some added card drawing capability.

In my opinion Wheel of Misfortune is just some sort of Goblin Game including a wheel-effect. You basically have a chance of either: drawing, just loosing life or nothing. I won't include it.

I can't imagine a situation where Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx actually ramps you, considering tokens don't provide devotion... have you thought about Gemstone Caverns for some ramp and explosiveness? Or maybe a Boseiju, Who Shelters All?

Omniscience_is_life let's say that you have Krenko, Mob Boss on board plus one more red permanent. This way it already pays itself plus one . It's considered more of a "later" ramp or in some situations when you have Krenko+X red permanent it can net a lot of red mana really fast. I don't like Gemstone Caverns in this deck. Because we already have a lot of colorless mana in our mana base and Gemstone Caverns doesn't provide anything except it's in your starting hand.(OFC than it's nice to have) Boseiju, Who Shelters All Can be considered when you're in a counterspell heavy environment. I wouldn't put it in my core 99 because we don't run that many sorceries nor instants.

what are your thoughts on maybe using Goblin Settler?

TheOneKiko1337 says... #15
Jack_Dashing in tribal okay. But in this deck? nope. just to destroy one land is super slow.

Any reason that Jeweled Lotus is only in the Maybeboard? It seems like an auto-include to me.

mathdude3 Oh, my bad. Obviously it is an auto-include. Must have forgotten to put it in, coz it's in my "real"deck.

Nice deck! There's a lot of focus on mana-generation though. What are you going to use all that mana for? You don't have all that many sinks for it.

TheOneKiko1337 says... #19
NV_1980 Hey, oh you have sever mana sinks. Foe example Staff of Domination, Aggravated Assault or Purphoros, God of the Forge. In addition you will have to cast Krenko over and over again, it will be the number one target to get destroyed.

Love this list! Do you think the new Goro-Goro, Disciple of Ryusei could see play here as a haste enabler?

TheOneKiko1337 says... #21
ganchy Thank you! I really like Goro-Goro, Disciple of Ryusei I saw the card when it was spoilered and thought this must fit. It's a goblin so we are able to tutor it without using Gamble Maybe I'm going to remove Ashling's Prerogative or Mass Hysteria despite both are being cheaper in casting.

do you feel that sword of paruns is a little slow for the deck?
April 28, 2022 11:54 p.m.
TheOneKiko1337 says... #24
Sword and Thermopod are def. on the "cut list" because of the higher cost. We have a lot ot other possible includes you can find in my maybeboard. These mostly depend on your playgroup

I like the deck, but it seems pointless to have a prismatic vista in a mono-colored deck. I feel like another mountain would better replace it.
Fran_RuGu says... #1
Hi. I'm very interested in this deck because I have my own version (very very similar to yours). In my mtg group there are a lot of control-combo tier1 decks and it's difficult to play relaxed. For this reason, I add cards that they help to overcome the situation. Have you consider to addDeflecting Swat? I think it's great. And what do you think about Sudden Shock Split second effect can avoid counters resolving the stack (and 2 damage) for 2 mana.
