WrathofCod I added in Altar of Dementia and Riftsweeper, since I agree that they are very good in this deck. The only problem I have with Gaea's Herald is that I do not want to hard-cast the creatures, and instead I want to cheat them out with Tooth and Nail, which is a sorcery. Nevertheless, I appreciate the considerations!

Thanks for the suggestions and +1!

I have tested Riftsweeper some (in a couple of different decks) and found it really unexciting most of the time, especially when drawn early on. Unless someone has a suspended card or a Chrome Mox, it does absolutely nothing. I imagine having a random 2cmc creature gets a little more interesting once you have cards like Diabolic Intent, Eldritch Evolution, Birthing Pod or Survival of the Fittest to make use of it. Still, Riftsweeper felt too situational to me, and even if the time was right for it, it was merely okay and not great.

@ Emzed While most of criticisms are valid, Riftsweeper is still a card I would add into the deck. Even though in 9/1o games it won't do much, in that game that it will, it has a good chance of being a lifesaver and allowing you to pull off a clutch win! If you don't have one (or more) of your combo pieces, and you go to Tooth and Nail or play an important (potentially game-winning) creature and it gets exiled, you are pretty screwed. Even though this deck does have a few different combos, if a crucial piece is exiled late in the game, it usually takes too much time to assemble another combo, thus losing you the match. With Riftsweeper, that previously unwinnable game is now winnable. Even if that scenario doesn't present itself, like you mentioned, it is still useful fodder for a Diabolic Intent or a Survival of the Fittest trigger! In conclusion, the risk is extremely low, and the potential for reward is very high! This is just my opinion, and I don't want this to come off as rude or confrontational :)

Have you considered Swarmyard Not sure you need to protect your commander too much though?

Airdraken I forgot the name of Swarmyard. I'll take out Tabernacle because the latter doesn't help the strategy. Thanks for the suggestion!

Inspiring Call Can be useful, wont get around something like toxic deluge. but card draw works too.

I dont know how many +1/1 counters this type of mazirek deck gets. It's definitely more powerful in other playlists

Airdraken Inspiring Call is meh in this list because you have Path to Exile, Swords to Plowshares, and other non-destruction removal. It's very good in a more casual table, however!
