Zirda (Firefox) the Dawnwaker

Zirda, the Dawnwaker is a Boros combo deck that mainly focuses on the combo between it's commander and Grim Monolith or Basalt Monolith generating infinite colorless mana and winning the game with a selection of "X" spells.

Pros

  • Blocks Tymna and trades with Najeela.

  • Angel's Grace and Gideon of the Trials keep you alive after a Thassa's Oracle would win the game.

  • Moderately fast combo wins using multiple infinite mana outlets, or you can use the beatdown plan with Serra Ascendant and other such cards. Usually winning as early as turn 2 or 3.

  • Multiple stax pieces to resist control decks such as Grand Abolisher, and to slow or stop graveyard decks with Grafdigger's Cage and Drannith Magistrate, this deck also runs Armageddon and Winter Orb because of the sheer amount of mana artifacts this deck contains this deck can easily pull away and win after these huge stax pieces resolve.

  • Many board clears like Flame Sweep and Pyroclasm to get rid of mana dorks and commanders with lower toughness, like Tymna.

  • Provides moderate protection with cards such as Mother of Runes to protect Zirda and our other creatures from the many removal spells in the format

Cons

  • Stax pieces such as Stony Silence can easily disrupt the deck's capability until removed.

  • Besides the many stax pieces, the colors of this deck lack interaction so in terms of targeted removal you've only got a few options

How to Win Show

  • This deck runs a volley of powerful stax pieces such as Winter Orb and Hushbringer that don't affect how the deck wins making it break parity really easily. Threat assessment is really important with this deck because of the limited targeted removal, you should play aggressive against the faster decks like flashhulk using your Hushbringer and Angel's Grace to stop you from dying to a turn one Flash.

  • Using our draw engines like Mask of Memory or filter pieces like Sensei's Divining Top and Scroll Rack to gain value from attacking or just grinding out value you will eventually put together one of the infinite combos the deck has and kill the table. Although you could play the deck more as a midrange deck it also works as an aggressive deck that can constantly win on turns 2-4.

Thanks for viewing my primer, feedback is appreciated. I'm currently working on expanding the sideboard and possibly adding a maybeboard.
