Papa_Dingo: It's 1 more mana (...) - this is what makes it infinite times weaker in cEDH ;).

Rarian How does it being 1 more mana make it that much weaker... Also what happens when none of your opponents are playing blue? Then Fellwar Stone is useless...
October 28, 2017 2:38 a.m.
In competitive EDH turn 3 is the critical turn of the game. That turn you need to either be winning the game, locking the board up or setting up the win.
Taking that turn off in order to cast a rock with a marginal upside (and the upside of ingot over stone really is negligible, we have plenty of colored mana even if felwar somehow doesn't tap for blue, which it always will) will just lose you the game plain and simple. The deck can't afford to run any 3 mana rocks

Coalition Relic, which is also a 3 mana rock, would be a hundred times better than Darksteel Ingot. However, neither is better than Fellwar Stone for this deck.

I'm not sure where it would slot in, but have you thought about Everflowing Chalice as a rock you can tutor for with Trinket Mage that has the potential to tap for multiple mana?
October 30, 2017 10:22 p.m.
Chalice takes up the same spot as Mind Stone and Prismatic Lens. I prefer those two cards because you never really get a window to cast chalice for more than 2 but if you think it's doable in your meta I'd probably swap it for lens
Chalice also has the marginal upside of going infinite with Tezzerett and the Chain Veil but it's so hard to accomplish that I dont even think it should affect your decision

how exactly do you win if chain veil gets exiled? I understand rings plus monolith to make infinite mana and then stroke yourself but then how do you win from there? Am I missing something? You can snapcaster mage for another elimination. What if you can't afford to buy time spiral or time twister to shuffle your graveyard back into your library?

i like the deck. im going to start working on a competitive deck with an initial budget of ~300$. what non budget cards would you say i should splurge for? like onces crucial for the game plan?

Ok that actually does make sense then. I'm still pretty new to CEDH so the fact it's 1 turn earlier does sound better.

@3InchMeatMonster the Labmaniacs did a series on reddit that went over the deck at various differnet budgets, find it at https://www.reddit.com/r/CompetitiveEDH/comments/63vtwk/budget_deck_series_introduction_and_chain_veil/

I probably wont get a response, but I thought Id try anyway.
I cant afford Tabernacle and Timetwister. Do you think the deck is still worth building without them? I know tabernacle is listed as fine to take out, but timetwister is part of an infinite combo.

Papa_Dingo says... #13
Sterling0528 Even withough Time Twister you can still combo at least 3 other people out by casting Stroke of Genius, Time Spiral, cast Stroke again, then Snapcaster it for the 3rd KO. You can also build this deck without Time Twister and use Blue Sun's Zenith as a substitute. With Blue Sun's you can even cut Time Spiral if you want since it shuffles back into your library, it just makes the combo a little more difficult since you need more blue mana.

Haha Sigi i just watched your video, as ill be playing this deck tomorrow in our 2HG cEDH league; and realized i was chatting with you already.I still see alot of questions as to how players can get around buying Timetwister or some of the other expensive cards. What I've done is slightly modified the deck adding Paradox Engine, Astral Cornucopia, Muzzio, Visionary Architect, & Artificer's Intuition. This allows me to draw deep each turn I don't have The Chain Veil on board. I also included Staff of Domination to couple with infinite mana. The Astral Cornucopia is easily searched out by many means and gives more blue mana available to players. For instance the ones who wonder why Blue Sun's Zenith isn't in the deck.Anyways, always a pleasure Sigi. Still an amazing deck and i look forward to crushing more wins with it. Recently i've been playing Prossh in my meta and players are tired of being run over. Btw my 2HG partner is playing Baral. Lol.

How has Manifold Insights been working out? I see it's been about six months since you started testing it and it's still in the list. You still happy with it?
December 31, 2017 2:27 p.m.
Hi sigi,
I am very interested in buying this list for paper, and I just wanted to know what to prioritize first to buy. What should I focus on first? counters? mana rocks? I already own a good amount of the list from my brago stax list, including the artifact tutors, Mana Drain (thanks IMA), Basalt Monolith and Mana Vault.
I would Love to hear back from you!

kyuuri117: Manifold is really good in Teferi, I'm happy with it. People always think "oh, but they're not gonna give me what I want!", but that's pretty much never true. Sure, they're not gonna give you tutors or combo pieces, but one upside of Teferi is that he has pretty much no cards that are useless at any point in the game. So whatever you end up getting will be useful for you at some point in the game.
Wurmlover: Hey, the top priority cards for Teferi are definitely all the mana rocks and the artifact tutors. Just having those will already go a long way.

Heyo Sigi,
So, I've read through the primer, the budget options reddit page, and the majority of the comments and have been playin the deck sans twister and tabernacle for roughly 2-3 months now. Love the deck, and have really got a solid feel for it. Been kinda tinkering around with it, seeing if other cards are also worth playing, and wanted to get yours, or anyone's, thoughts on Day's Undoing and also Ideas Unbound cause I'm having a rough go at judging them myself. Thanks!

LabManiac_Sigi says... #19
Neither of those are good. Day's Undoing is a card I don't think I'd ever consider. You give everyone new cards, but your opponents are always going to be the first to use them. Other wheel effects like Windfall or Twister let you continue your turn, thereby letting you "go first" with your new cards. Ideas Unbound is also just not good if you're not winning on the same turn. The only type of deck where I'd consider it is a very all-in Storm deck.

Thanks for getting back to me sigi!
One more question: what do you think would be some good meta calls in terms of replacing Timetwister and the like? I mainly play against mizzix, FCP, and krenko combo.

What are your thoughts on Induced Amnesia for this deck?
January 20, 2018 9:16 p.m.
Tinker is indeed insane, which is why it is banned :)
January 21, 2018 3:54 a.m.
Ehm, dont know what happened to all the comments, but I answered someone who was asking about tinker vs. reshape.
January 21, 2018 3:55 a.m.
What is the opinion on Doubling Cube in this deck? Would it work with this type of deck, or is it too narrow?
Papa_Dingo says... #1
It's 1 more mana but wouldn't Darksteel Ingot be a little better than Fellwar Stone seeing that it's a guaranteed 1 blue mana and it's indestructible.
