I am using this list and will probably be adding Karn and mycosynth lattice. Thoughts?

bonez245 says... #4

I had Karn in mind and think it will fit well.the CMC low enough to not slow the deck... Lattice I feel is a little slow I'm my opinion... It a 6 CMC and by itself I think it helps your opponent to much to filter there Mana...but if u get Karn and lattice out it's fine

Any thoughts on the minor updates Morimus has made to his list for War of the Spark? I see he's dropped some of the 3CMC draw spells, as well as Buried Ruin to the maybe-board, going down on lands by a slot to 30, in order to slot in Gilded Drake and the 2x best new blue cards from WotS.

And if you were to look at including Narset's Reversal and/or Narset, Parter of Veils , what would you cut from your own stock list?

What are you on about NeonEndymion?
I haven't played Buried Ruin in years, and have been at 30 lands for quite a while now.
I'm also not running Gilded Drake . It's not even on my maybeboard, even though it should be.
I did, however, drop Fact or Fiction and Thirst for Knowledge in favor of Narset's Reversal and Narset, Parter of Veils , and am testing those now.

MorimusI think I'm "on about" getting confused between your list and neosloth's list; sorry about that.

He's still on 31 lands/ Buried Ruin , and also looks to be testing/running Blast Zone from War, by the looks of his latest updates, as well as still runs Gilded Drake .

Most the the comments/discussion around deck updates seem to happen on this page, though, but if you'd prefer I not tag users in comments, let me know.

Why would you play narset parter of veils in teferi... is a dead card that slows your combo down on the hope of shutting off some draw off opponents, you also dont run enough creatures to guarantee blockers for narset..

I haven't tested with her yet, but the floor is that you're paying 1CMC more for a one-shot Impulse that can't grab creatures or lands. And twice, if she survives a turn cycle. Seems like a pretty decent but not optimtal 1:1 swap for some of the other, clunkier 3-4CMC filter/draw effects that are being run in some lists, even if the concession is sorcery speed.

The ceiling is that Timetwister , Windfall , and Time Spiral become absurdly asymmetrical; even Memory Jar gets a bit better.

The middle ground of course being that you shut off opposing draw spells/effects as long as she's on board.

Hi, a have some points about the latest changes:

1- why now baral?. I remember some lists in the past With more instant and counterspells. Right now, you have 1 less counterspell, so, please, explain the add of baral.

2- why legacy’s allure over vedalken shackles?. Vedalken is an artifact, can be search With some tutors, legacy can only be tutored by muddle the mixture and is soo slow..., you can explain this too?

Best regard

  1. Because I feel that now is a good time to try it since I'm already making a lot of changes to the deck.

  2. Because I can't afford to spend 5 mana on this type of effect. And while Shackles is tutorable, I found that I'd rather spend my tutors on other things most of the time.

May 17, 2019 9:33 p.m.

You wan’t spend 5 manas in shackes but you’re willing to wait at least i don’t know how Many turns With Legacy’s allure?. in 3 turns you are dead in a competitive environment.

May 18, 2019 8:03 a.m.

Yes, because spending two mana instead of five mana allows me to use that remaining mana to further develop my game plan or to interact with my opponents when the need arises. I'm not sure what kinda meta you've been playing in, but actually losing/winning on turn 3 happens quite rarely nowadays since most decks will be prepared to stop others from winning at that point. You don't need to wait all that many turns with Legacy's Allure either - only having one counter on it already puts an enormous amount of pretty onto the board and makes it very difficult for e.g. most Hulk decks to go for a win. Once it reaches two counters, it stops most combos that involve creatures simply by being on the battlefield. And if you don't want to use it to prevent combos, you can steal useful creatures like Zur, Thrasios, Tymna or Dark Confidant and get their benefits while also making it easier to run out Teferi a few turns before you go for the win.

Is there a way to still make this deck but more on a budget? I can't afford some of these cards. I have the precon peer through time and want to upgrade it but I'm not sure what to include/take out. Any help would be appreciated

Papa_Dingo says... #17

adamsgame62 Depending on how budget your version would be I'd say all you would really need are enough of the cheaper mana rocks and Blue Sun's Zenith To mill everyone out. Then throw in cheaper counterspells, lands, and what-not.

Hey everybody. I was wondering if there is a way to combo off without TCV + Ugin. There is lot of combo hate in my meta. The spirit dragon is just too slow by his own and making infinite mana to deck everybody is just too clunky IMO (also impossible without runing BSZ). I'm mostly relying on Rings/Power Artifact loops to get most of my wins. Any thoughts? I was considering including Aetherflux Reservoir but it's not on theme at all.

Why is Memory Jar in the deck? I have been playing this deck for a few weeks and it almost always ends up being a dead card for me. What man i supposed to do with it?

July 26, 2019 5:45 p.m.

Bighimmy says... #21

Ugin is a win con and so is chain viel that synergizes with your commander this deck isnt on the storm plan jvp high tide would be better for that.and memory jar is useful as a response say someone demonic tutors for a win possibly or if u need interaction and do not have it also can be used for more gas when your barely shy of getting there.

August 4, 2019 7:06 p.m.

Andro93 says... #22

My point is you can use any PW as a wincon. I'm currently running only JTMS as a combo finisher and BSZ as my plan B. I'm also thinking about playing baby Jace as another wincon, but only because I'm a little concerned about everyone hating me on the table.

What exactly is USZ that i should use in place of Time Twister?

Andro93 the real problem with JMS is that he actually can make you opponent win if he have a LabManiac or something like that.
