1-1-2 at FNM —March 8, 2015

this week wasn't a great day for VW control 1-1-2 this week but gotta live with it.

first match was vs R/B aggro won 2-0 It was a solid deck. i just had answers for everything. Also it was the Girls first FNM. Her dad is a regular and it was his deck. 1st round got kiora out and krakened her to death. round 2 ashiok hit and stole a rabble and a butcher of the horde ftw. she didn't have enough removal in the deck to get rid of my planes walkers.

2nd match vs mardu control tied 1-1-1 first round got an early ashiok and started mill town. he would burn him with a strike or stoke to keep from the -10 but no downfall or utter end to get it off. had him down to 15 cards in deck then he downfalled ashiok and was lucky enough to get a palace siege out. i couldn't get ugin or sultai charm to get rid of it. he got the 1st round win. round 2 i got my control package sideboard in and it was just nasty. turn 3 Grindclock into a turn 7 ashiok started the mill for 7 each turn. then hit the other grind clock and put it out ticked it up 2 and got to milling 9 each turn. he was like wtf is goin on? milled him out. round 3 went to time and didn't have enough to finish but with my current sideboard items there wasn't much he could do or hope for. just didn't get to finish.

3rd match lost against abzan manifest deck 0-2

both games he just stomped me the same way getting rhinos whips and that new creature forgot its name but it manifests at the beginning of your end step. i just couldn't stop it. i think with better hands i might have won but i just kept bad control hands but thats my fault not his.

4th match was mardu aggro/midrange went 1-1-1

1st round kept his board state clear got a ashiok out and stole a lot of creatures from him and almost every downfall he had in the deck. got kiora out and garruk to just make him lose all hope of winning so he scooped as soon as garruk hit. 2nd round was my mistake i underestimated him and got cocky n just made 2 mistakes to cost me the game. He got out 2 creatures that stated when a creature you control attacks defending player loses a life n you gain life then played the R/W god. the dmg stacked up on me and didn't have enough to stop it. 3rd round he just got super lucky got out ashiok and kiora any creatures he played i would get rid of. kiora hit 5 and he downfalled her. then out comes the big guy himself garruk. he had 0 creatures and time was called. every time id play a 3/3 he would exile it until time was called but with ashiok up a kiora in hand and 2 crux an aetherspouts and a downfall i was ready for anything he would play if i only had 4-5 more turns he would be dead with garruks -8 into 3 3/3's woulda been 24 dmg swinging in and with kiora ready to fly out he didn't have enough removal and he was stuck to top decking due to only having 1 card in hand.

But i will say this even going 1-1-2 i love this deck and its strategy i don't care if i lose 70% of the time i am going to have fun and my opponent is just gonna sweat the whole round knowing that i can play 1 card and change the whole game around.

There was a girl scout at the shop selling cookies yes i say GIRL SCOUT COOKIES so i bought me a box and ate it while i played. people kept looking at me and i said what haven't you seen what I'm playing tonight?? this is a control players dream to play eat cookies and watch my opponent sweat and wish he had cookies of his own. needless to say a few heads shook and someone told me he hated me lol. he was kidding but he really does hate my deck. he said with my deck not only does he have to slow play n think every move out but he can't just worry about what is in my hand but what is on the top of his deck.
