Mardu Ascendancy works well with Sorin and protects your armies from Bile Blight / Anger of the Gods

Return to the Ranks - has worked out great for me in the past with a similar deck. Also sets up Athreos with some new bodies to protect

There are plenty of budget options available for Mardu warriors. I suggest you finish this deck up by making it more focused and consistent by getting playsets of the cards you most want to use.

Best of luck to you!

Zacoly thanks for the comments!!

I actually have a copy of Mardu Ascendancy in the deck but havent updated the list yet. I am thinking about putting more copies in but ill have to retune the mana base to support more red.

I was going back and forth with Return to the Ranks, you think its worth?

I have the deck right now, but have yet to really test it out. I keep trying to get to FNM but work keeps getting in the way, i am trying to get one of my friends to pilot the deck

i dont think this deck needs red, there are only 4 cards in the mainboard that require it and i think you should drop iot for more Return to Ranks and removal, possibly Mogis's Marauder as it has won me countless games with a similar brew to this check it out... Bored Horde(DTK)

I really like the idea - beside great synergy and consistency - of annoying opponent to his limits ;) I can imagine all of those "ARGH!'s" and "DEAAAAAAMN!!!'s" from the other side of the table. Good luck with this, tell me how did it work.

And be sure to get Arashin Foremost from the Dragons of Tarkir - it could improve your deck even better. As well as Blood-Chin Fanatic ;)

also cheif of the scale is terrible in this deck, we need more aggro add more brutal hordechiefs and strikeleaders extra toughness does not help us win...

@Son-of-Mace - I have been leaning toward taking out the red, and with the new set coming out I think I will. I was a big fan of Alesha, Who Smiles at Death when she came out, and Mardu Ascendancy was a lot of fun, and make some crazy plays, but i think may have to go.

I have been debating Mogis, and i think now for the time being that I am taking out red i can put him back in.

I actually forgot to take Chief of the Scale out of here, they haven't been in my deck for a long time.

@ Wiktul this deck is very fun to play :) Arashin looks amazing and will def add to the deck once the set comes out. Im a little mixed on blood-chin, i think maybe as a sideboard for matches that take longer to deal that last bit of damage.

Also, Timely Hordemate does not fit the curve nicely in this deck for what it offers. Turn four I really want to be playing a sorin or brutal, a game changer.

Return to the Ranks would be a feasable replacement for alesha, and in my warrior deck is a consistent bomb, whether returning a single shief of the edge for three or an army for 7 or 8

I started out with a similar deck build to this, but I found that it was very inconsistent. I'm not really sure how to fix it much either. Here are the problems that I ran into:1.) Big creatures stop you in your tracks. It is very hard to get past a turn 3 Siege Rhino, let alone the 6 life point swing that it offers. Polukranos is also very mean.2.) Has a very weak late game. Many of the midrange decks tend to overpower it by about turn 5 or 6 and the deck simply has no way to catch up. There are very little cards in the deck that are IMMEDIATE threats, such as Brimaz, Rabblemaster, etc. Although once they get together, they tend to cause a problem, overall it's hard to catch up.3.) Either too much removal, or not enough. There is never a right spell to creature ratio. Some games, you'll have way too much removal, but no creatures. Or vice versa. (I ran much more removal in my version)

Overall, the way that I've seen it, is that the deck must be very quick, or have enough late game threats to keep pressure on the midrange decks. I do like the idea, as I did also run a similar build, but there's no way to beat some of the decks out there right now. G/W devotion destroys aggro decks that can't sustain to late game b/c Mastery of the Unseen just offers way too much life/creatures for them. Also, I noticed that Athreos doesn't offer much for the deck. He rarely becomes a creature, and his ability looks good on paper, but just doesn't do enough when it comes time for him to shine. I'm not really sure what to recommend, but hopefully I've helped clear some of the hardships of the deck. I look forward to seeing future adjustments to the deck! Also, feel free to check out my current build. It would be much appreciated!

I love this deck. The only thing I have a problem with are the spiteful return. Yeah you can bestow, but it's only a +1. I'd suggest either raider's spoils for more card draw and more damage or battle brawler as he's a nice card that fills the two spot easily. Secure the sands in dragons of tarkir is also a interesting idea as it gives you loads of soldiers. Also chief of the edge is a good pick for the toughness boost.
