The whole point of this deck is to create a volatile board with creatures like Blood Artist, Blood Seeker , and Suture Priest. You constantly feed your opponent 1/1 tokens with cards like Forbidden Orchard, Genesis Chamber , and Hunted Troll, and prevent the tokens from getting out of control with Illness in the Ranks. The constant feeding of 1/1 tokens that instantly die on a volatile board ends up making the stack quite large (indeed, chimney size). Mercy Killing is removal that doubles as massive damage to the face if you have a couple of Blood Seeker s or Suture Priests out (nothing wrong with Blood Artist in this combo neither so long as you have Illness in the Ranks in play). Did I mention Sylvan Scrying was there to ensure that you get your Forbidden Orchards into play?
