Hi there ! This is my mono-black deck, which I find pretty fun to play. The main goal is just to suck the life out of your opponent by ramping a huge amount of mana, while blocking its game. It's not entirely creatureless as I tagged it, but the only creatures aren't there to fight. So, let's begins this description :
THE MANA GENERATORS :
Crypt Ghast : This little fellow is very useful to produce tons of mana quickly. As being mono-black, each land you have counts twice when he's on board. On top of that, he's got extortion, so you can suck out one extra PV every time you cast a spell.
Extraplanar Lens : A little less fragile than Crypt Ghast, being an incolor artifact, the lens basically have the same effect. The only downside is the fact you'll lose one land when it enters the battlefield.
Liliana of the Dark Realms : Her +1 is useful to drop a land at every turn, and if things go south, you could also use her -3 for creature removal. Ultimately, the point is to manage to get her emblem for a massive mana farm.
CONTROL CARDS :
Erebos, God of the Dead : He shouldn't count as creature because obviously he won't be one. There is one thing you don't want when playing this deck, and this is your opponent gaining life : He's there to prevent it. Icing on the cake, his ability to draw a card is very useful.
Mutilate : One of my favourite card of the deck. It's very effective in mono-black, not so mana expensive and will clean up the board for you. It doesn't matter if your opponent's creatures have hexproof or indestructible, they die anyway. A must-have.
Dash Hopes : The only counterspell I managed to find in Black. But what a counterspell ! I like to keep it when it comes to drop the finishers, for a eventual counter-counterspell. Even if it's counterred you'll still do 5 damages.
Quag Sickness
: Nothing much fancy here, just a Mutilate but at a smaller scale. Useful though!
Temporal Extortion : It's more of a fun card because you hardly manage to do something more than drop another land when you take an extra turn, but if your opponent doesn't know your deck yet, as I said earlier it puts lots of pressure. So, try your best to smile mysteriously when you cast it, and maybe your opponent Will cut half his life. Then finish him off with Sorin's Vengeance. Plus, it's fun to play (can be easely sideboarded too).
THE WINCONS :
Sorin's Vengeance : The text is very clear and the picture more. You gain 10 life, your opponent lose 10. Of course, it costs seven but that shouldn't be a problem.
Corrupt
: Nice card, because its versatility makes it a creature removal, or a finisher.
Consume Spirit
: Last but not least, my favourite card of the deck. I usually try to ramp enough mana to do a one-shot at my opponent. Sometimes you can even manage to do 40++ of damage if you've got lily's emblem.
