I built this deck because esper is my favorite color combination, and lands is my favorite theme. I had been playing Oloro, Ageless Ascetic reanimator for about five years, and was determined to change it up. Typical lands decks, based around the cards Dark Depths, aim to easily tutor out, and quickly create card: marit lage as fast as they can. However, without the possibility of running Scapeshift or Gifts Given I was at a tight spot with making this a lands deck. However, I came to the conclusion that rather than a normal lands deck, I would overvalue the card Candelabra of Tawnos, making it the star of the show. With lands like Lotus Vale, and Sunken Ruins, I am able to use candelabra as a gigantic mana-rock. It even helps out with Maze of Ith, and Prahv, Spires of Order.

Winning The Game Show

Winning the game with a control deck is quite challenging without combos. I am a big fan of casual edh, and thoroughly enjoy a long and miserable game. There are four ways of winning the game. First is to swing out with card: marit lage, another is swing out with the commander Chromium, the Mutable three times although this never happens, another is to make a ton of mana with Candelabra of Tawnos and spend it all on Sphinx's Revelation, and lastly, my favorite: winning the game by playing Near-Death Experience and then paying all but one life with Necropotence. Staying Alive to Win Show

Staying alive is quite the challenge. Especially when you are able to threaten a 20/20 at almost any time. My favorite little thing to do is to play Dark Depths with a Solemnity on the field, and just like that, stop taking damage. One of the best ways of staying alive, is Cataclysmic Gearhulk. The card is worse than most other board whipes, but I run it as it is easily tutor-able with Tezzeret the Seeker, and Whir of Invention, and recur-able with Sharuum the Hegemon. Sharuum is quite amazing as Whir of Invention can grab her, as well as she can grab Candelabra of Tawnos.
