Welcome to Chulane's Endless Tale

I Say endless, but this is a typical Chulane, Teller of Tales deck, it uses Chulane to combo and could end your tale as quickly as you like. But, your opponents somehow let Chulane hit the board, so experiment a little. Try and tell an interesting narrative, a quick story, or an endless chronicle, it's up to you! All of the combos are very similar, so mix and match pieces to always play one step ahead.

How much mana do you have to combo? 1 Blue!? Don't worry

If you are that mana starved (which you shouldn't be) you can use Shrieking Drake to start digging. Cast the Drake and target itself with its own ability. Hopefully you at least have Chulane and/or Beast Whisperer out to can get some more useful cards in hand. If you don't, why are you even trying to combo!

Combo with this effect by bouncing an Island with Mana Breach and using Chulane's trigger to return the island to the battlefield untapped. Rinse and repeat until you deck yourself! Easily the funniest story to tell. If that's not fun for you, take a break from casting the Drake to cast some 0 drops or High Tide and get some free mana. Cast Laboratory Maniac then its business as usual as we ride the Drake to victory or death.

Think you can generate more mana for the combo? Good that's what I expected

You probably have Intruder Alarm, or Village Bell-Ringer and some Mana Dorks. If your dorks make enough mana, you can use our MC Shrieking Drake, Drake's new rival Whitemane Lion, and/or the real star, Chulane himself to begin bouncing creatures and start the previous tale over again with new characters!

Not finding the easy combos?

Another odd combo piece is Elesh Norn, Mother of Machines. By doubling up on ETB triggers you can combo Mana Breach, Whitemane Lion, and any 0 drop creature by telling the first story again with a cat and a rock, instead of a drake!

Don't worry, there are more of course. There are two infinite mana combos Emiel the Blessed + Peregrine Drake , and Dramatic Reversal + Isochron Scepter . As long as you have another creature out, and Chulane, infinite mana is infinite draw. Then it's time for our narrative to end with decking itself again!

Cloudstone Curio is probably the combo with the most pieces, but its still the same trick. Use two non-artifact creatures to bounce each-other. Use Intruder Alarm or Mana Breach to generate mana, and we can tell the tale of the Drake who could without any of our main cast!

I can already hear you complaining.

If you had Intruder Alarm or Mana Breach you would just use an easier combo. The benefit to Cloudstone Curio is that we can use other combo pieces instead! Concordant Crossroads will give your mana dorks haste. Now you can tap a cheap mana dork to generate the mana to pay for itself. Simply cast a new cheap dork to bounce Dork 1. and we have ourselves a loop! Who would have guessed we would end our story like this again!?

But where is our endless tale?!

The final combo is the best... well, in my opinion anyway. It also needs the most set up. We probably want infinite mana, so use our other combos as stepping stones to build our first NEW chronicle! Once we have limitless mana and full a hand, containing most of our deck. Cast Eater of Days to skip our next two turns. you see, I clearly don't want to play this game. But, I also don't want to give myself a combo win, or kill myself. "Narrator! get to the point!" I can practically hear you shouting. Well, with infinite mana, Intruder Alarm, Chulane, and Eater of Days, we can flicker our favorite fish as much as we want to skip all of our turns! Add some finishing touches by casting Teferi's Protection and walk away from your endless reading, while leaving everyone else stuck in your endless tale!

...

Still here!? Walking away isn't good enough for you?

It's a good thing you generated all of that mana I guess. Before Teferi's resolves, bounce Chulane back to your hand. Then, after Teferi's resolves, use that mana to cast yourself a new board. With that handful of cards you should still have, cast Leyline of Anticipation, Intruder Alarm, some mana dorks, Elixir of Immortality and, of course, Chulane! Discard down to hand size at the end of turn. Then use the elixir to restack your deck for the next round of draws. Or, keep your land drop until after you cast Teferi's then play Reliquary Tower to hold onto your stack. Keep up removal and watch the table be held hostage by your endless tale as you keep them railroaded in the right direction like a proper narrator!
