A deck for my buddy Mike, who wanted a blue-black casual deck with some variety to it.
The main focus of the deck is Circu, Dimir Lobotomist. Through repeated castings of Cavern Harpy and encoded copies of
Call of the Nightwing
, Circu should be threshing through the opponent's deck in short order and limiting their options severely. To this end, Clutch of the Undercity's presence allows you to tutor up Circu (as well as Call of the Nightwing and
Evil Twin
) when necessary. Likewise, Muddle the Mixture and Dimir Infiltrator can search up the Harpy.
The Harpy's bounce effect allows reuse of enters-the-battlefield effects like those of
Sea Gate Oracle
and Man-o'-War, which are themselves searchable by Drift of Phantasms.
Dire Undercurrents is expensive, but works marvelously with Cavern Harpy and repeated castings of Call of the Nightwing.
Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver and
Stolen Identity
are present for utility and as possible win conditions, by means of their ability to steal or copy opposing fatties.
Undercity Plague
is also capable of grinding out excruciating victories through attrition of enemy resources. Other win conditions include Horror swarms (courtesy of Call of the Nightwing), gradual evasive beats, or through Circu's milling.
Lastly, Memory Lapse is a convenient tool for slowing down opponents, is searchable by multiple transmute cards in the deck, and interacts nicely with Circu.
