I'm only really interested in playing casually with my friends at the moment and Swords are way too expensive for that purpose. Thanks for the suggestion though, I'll definitely keep it in mind if I ever decide (and have enough money) to start playing in Modern tournaments.

Lightning Greaves , even as a 2x in this deck, would give so much power it is hard not to try and find some.
The haste is really nice, especially for consistent pressure when they are running low on blockers.
On the other hand, I am excited to recommend this due to its shroud. Shroud only sucks when you want to target your own creature. Well guess what, none of your cards do anyways.
This protection will really piss off your opponent and the great thing is, once they see it in action they WILL hold any artifact spell removal in their hand just in case you draw it again during the 2nd+ game.
The card is 6 bucks each (mid-price). You can easily trade for 2 with someone at your LGS.
And I noticed you have Dispatch in your maybe board. This is a great inclusion. You have 28 artifacts in your deck. That is a 15.6% of starting off with 3 artifacts in your hand. Those are very good odds for you to run Dispatch IMO. If not, your deck is still 46.7% artifacts, so there is no doubt you won't hit metal craft when you really need dispatch.
I agree it should be included. The others? No, not worth it. But this spell is.

Thanks for the feedback, Dreno33. I'm more inclined to use Swiftfoot Boots just because of how much cheaper they are, plus I'm pretty sure I already own one copy.

If you're contemplating using Glint Hawk play with Ornithopter or Memnite I'd suggest maybe testing out Quest for the Holy Relic and putting in 1 Argentum Armor ... fun with Auriok Edgewright swinging for 16 and destroying a permanent before blockers are even declared.

Thanks, Moorbeta. I like the idea of Quest for the Holy Relic if I decide to include more equipment, but I'm not sure I'd want to include Argentum Armor in this deck, just because the CMC means it'd be really bad to draw it and if I do manage to cheat it into play with the Quest and the creature it's attached to gets removed it's unlikely I'd ever have the mana to be able to re-equip it to anything.

True, just an idea for metalcraft though can be Puresteel Paladin , I made a deck with equips using him and Steelshaper's Gift . Worked quiet well.

I like it. It's well-balanced, and allows for easy use of any of the drawn cards.

I love this. I'm biased because Etched Champion is my favorite card ever, but this is very nicely put together. One idea (which you can take or leave, as it's off-tribe) that could be useful is Glassdust Hulk. Its CMC is a bit high, but the triggered unblockable is nice and you can cycle it early game.

Thanks Mxyzptlk, I'm glad you like the deck. Unfortunately, as you said, the CMC on Glassdust Hulk is just too high for this deck.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but since this is for Tribal wars, wouldn't that make Ornithopter unusable here?
October 20, 2015 6:37 p.m.
No, that's not how Tribal Wars works; all that's required is that a third of the deck be on-tribe creatures.

If you are going tribal why not the tribal equipment Veteran's Armaments or a cheap chat effect from Auriok Steelshaper both of which are good budget friendly options.

I've been considering Veteran's Armaments, but I don't think it'll be a good fit; I've found that a lot of games end up with me attacking with only one or two creatures - either because the rest get removed, or because there's a board stall and I'm only attacking with evasive creatures - and the Armaments aren't very good in that situation.
I'll give Auriok Steelshaper a look.

Really cool deck, Etched Champion is one of my favourite Magic cards ever! I might pick up your deck and fiddle with it to match my local playgroup's Modern/Casual format.
One question though, if you can affort to run a playset of Plateau, why not Tundra or Volcanic Island?
I personally don't use them because, they are not legal in my format, and physical copies are rare, and usually costs more than the entire rest of the deck combined. But if you can affort one why not the others? Tundra is strictly better than basic Plains and Hallowed Fountain.

Thanks, cak01vej. The duals are just way more expensive; the cheapest version of Plateau costs just $1.50 online, whereas a Tundra costs around $9 and Volcanic Islands are like $27 each. Blue is the most popular colour in Legacy and Vintage so the demand and consequently the price for any dual-land with blue in it is much higher than the other colour combinations.

Fair enough, I don't play MTGO, so I just know that if I wanted just one copy of Plateau, it would cost the equivalent of $150 USD (and the more expensive up to $2000).
But you are right, it seems that plateau is the least expensive of the original dual lands.

You can play that deck at modern and maybe swords ?
