Since I'm dropping massive writhing tentacles on the ground, I'm really not lacking in size for fighting, not to mention my win con creatures tend to be clones of no blue creatures or colorless. While flying is great, I prefer that in the form of a Archetype of Imagination or Akroma's Memorial, the latter of which is in here. Unfortunately it's just a weak card better tweaked for a blue tribal, giving it limited actual viability. Creatures I have that hundred percent benefit from it is 9, 10 with braids. And unfortunately Muzzio isn't really there for fighting.

Just a really lack luster card synergy wise, and I haven't even looked at what a potential drop could be.

Heya,

Sorry it took a while to find time to go through your build.. I'm also not well versed in mono blue but here's my two cents!

Ancient Tomb Mana ramp

Halimar Depths Not sure if you've run this before and cut it.

Riptide Laboratory Utility

Yeah.. I'd only suggest changing around a few lands honestly. Your build looks extremely well built already. If I think of something else, I'll let you know. Hope these help you out!

@ZombieCat thanks for the suggestions and taking what time you had. Halimar depths was in here, but it's entered tapped clause was of some concern to me speed wise. It is one of my favorite lands, but I preferred entered tapped lands to provide mana ramp so I could cast Braids faster. Otherwise keeping them from entering tapped means I could cast my counters while I get ready to cast Braids.

Riptide Laboratory has great utility, and I think I've got a reasonable drop for it. Best part is it protects braids allowing me to keep her from getting expensive.

Ancient Tomb is just pretty. Ramp with no drawbacks... Besides 2 damage of course but hardly a concern when aiming trying to play my large creatures as fast as possible.

Once again thanks for the suggestion and let me know if you got any decks you'd like some advice on. I'm no expert, but I know some strong oddball cards for every color that a lot of people forget about.

@dagan94

Actually, I'd love some advice on my first EDH deck I built.. I feel like I've been neglecting it a bit and fresh input would be great.

My group doesnt use sideboards, but I really like this deck. So im going to replace cunning wish with a Duplicant Any other cards out of your sideboard that you would put main if you couldnt use a sideboard?

I'd personally wouldn't worry about it, duplicant is fine. The 10 cards in the side board are all great cards that didn't make the cut because they're situational. None of them are bad, but their are just going to be too many times where they are not what I want to be drawing. Hinder is a pricey counter unless they're a graveyard deck, time stop is also expensive, Trickbind is probably the best for denying braids when she activates.

Sounds good! Also, why dont you run something like Leyline of Anticipation in so you can flash in braids at the end of your opponents turn and get the upkeep trigger?

Two reasons, first is I like cloning and stealing and am running a numbers game where I am liable to have a clone and no real threats of my own. In that case flash isn't really doing me much good making it a bad draw. The second issue is speed. If it isn't in hand gotta keep in mind I have to wait an extra turn before using my bbg. For a deck that has a tendency of garnering hate it's more useful to go for speed.

How about Vesuva instead of Seat of the Synod? Adds to your "I have one of those too!" theme and I don't really see what you're getting in return for having Seat of the Synod there. Else, drop an island for it.

Vesuva isn't bad, but my build doesn't do anything in particular that makes it really worth. If it didn't come in tapped maybe.

As for Seat of the Synod the artifact stipulation is the key word. I might drop Darksteel Citadel since it's a little lackluster, but blue artifact land just means useful mana with some combo uses. Land destruction while a pain, is also generally not going to be aimed at such a lackluster land in the first place.

Finally I'm not dropping anymore islands. It's a numbers game, I have just the right amount of land to get me the two blue for braids every time, so I swap colorless lands for colorless.

I've always wanted to build a conjurer adept deck, but then again, I want to build a lot of EDH decks...

Good list, I personally like it. Is the deck too glass cannon-y? For instance, if the person to your left just went play dude then kill braids, are you screwed?

Far from it. I have a decent amount of ramp that I can actually access my more expensive cards with relative ease. My draw power is pretty stable, and I run enough clone, steal, and counter that I can turn most large plays off of Braids on their head. It's a pretty well balanced deck. It had its weaknesses mind you, but even than I have enough good stuff that I can still pull out victories albeit close.

insane looks like its gonna almost always win

@griffstick Thanks. It's taken a lot of work to get it where it's at and I'm always looking to improve it. From experience it wins about 50% in large group games, which is both a high amount with large amounts of players and it garners more hate than a Kaalia deck. Turns out I can not only outpace Kaalia, but the threats I drop are a lot scarier. I've had more than a few times been targeted from the get go and still pulled off crushing wins.

Have you thought about Mirror Gallery so you can copy your legendary eldrazis and stuff

dagan94 says... #16

@griffstick I have, but I'm cross on what to drop. On one hand the collector in me says if I can get a Japanese version the flavor would make it a good replacement for my Japanese Guile. On the other hand Guile is both an efficient beater with great mono blue synergy. In addition there may be other good drops as well...

Got any suggested drops?

Is there a reason that Gemstone Caverns is in this deck other than for the LOLs.

dagan94 says... #20

It's easy ramp basically. When you have such strong cards in the deck braids has a tendency of getting killed quick so even a turn faster can make a huge difference.

How would I build a budget version of this deck?

July 30, 2015 9:18 p.m.

dagan94 says... #22

@vault

Sorry haven't been on for a while. So for budget you can replace the expensive titans with common eldrazi. The Planeswalkers can be switched out for any number of control cards, but I recommend more steal like Mind Control. A lot of my counters are super expensive, and can be replaced with cheaper cards. As for other creatures you can replace the pricey ones with Archetype of Imagination and the like, as well as leviathans. It won't be as impactful, but it'll still be game changing at the right time. Finally throwing in some bounce can help remove braids without raising her costs and remove opposing threats as well.

Thanks, it sounds fun. I'm currently testing out a casual Patron of the Moon deck but if it doesn't turn out as fun as I'd like, I may try out casual Braids.

you should play Clash of Wills. In all seriousness, though, nice deck, +1.

Haha, named the deck before the card came out. However I do see where you're coming from even if the card isn't good enough for the deck. Might look at changing the name.
