What better way to dip my proverbial toes into the just-as-proverbial waters that is Dominaria United than by repping some Clerics? A creature type I haven't often played with but slowly realized as the last set progressed that those guys have a lot of potential! And since my other Lifelink deck - Heavenly Harbingers - was basically rendered useless in Standard a long while ago due to now-Historic cards and the infamous Arena rule, I looked through the Clerics I had to work with and put together a rather interesting deck!

One of the big inspirations for this Cleric-themed deck was of course Shadow-Rite Priest since, well, it's not often that I see Clerics being the, um, destructive type. But to his credit, Markov Purifier existed to begin with, so why not give him a shot? Both of them rather!

But the biggest and baddest components of my deck comes from two key elements... First, there's Elas il-Kor, Sadistic Pilgrim who can either be a big help to me by giving me one life for each creature I cast or be a thorn in my opponent's side by giving them one damage for each creature of mine that's gone. And the life boost especially benefits the second component, Voice of the Blessed! That's right, the card that everyone used against me while I could never use it 'cause that guy was flippin' expensive to collect! It cost me and a few other cards a good chunk of Rare Wildcards, but at long last, I have him, and it's so worth it in a Lifelink-centered deck backed up by amazing Clerics! 83

Basically I find some way or another to gain life every chance I get, whether it's by the ability of Traveling Minister or the inspiring force of Take Up the Shield (I love you, pure Ajani! ;w;)!

And if I've got enough life to spend, any creature I don't like can just go away thanks to Infernal Grasp! >:3

Light and dark. Yin and yang. Life and death. When used correctly - and as long as I keep a cool head - all of this has potential! ^w^
