As you may have noticed if you browsed through my decks (which I recommend you do!), this one is a bit different from my usual play style. It is the only deck that has black in its colour identity, and it might be the last too. This is because I normally don't play black. While very powerful as a colour, I simply don't like its mechanics.

BUT, I had to make an exception for Amalia Benavides Aguirre, a card which I literally fell in love with. She is just so versatile, powerful, and synergistic, and she combines a lot of the things I like in Magic. She is a low CMC commander, a running theme in many of my commander decks (Giada, Captain Storm, Hazezon, just to name a few), she cares about life gain, which is my favourite mechanic in the whole game, she allows for explosive and very powerful turns, and she can get VERY big. Despite being in Orzhov, she really speaks to the Naya player in me. So, just for this once, I decided to pass to the dark side and fully embrace black mechanics.

I built this deck in full aristocratic-lifegain style. The strategy is pretty straightforward: 1)setting up a life gain mechanism with soul sisters cards that trigger on ETB or when creatures die 2)sacrificing and reanimating creatures for value/ping damage/triggering Amalia 3)having Amalia explore to reach power 20 as fast as possible 4)blow the board 5)win through commander damage, death triggers/combat damage from reanimated creatures, or a bit of both. Additionally this deck also runs the lifegain-drain combo Exquisite Blood + Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose .
