Another consideration would be adding Dryad Arbor and Cartel Aristocrat . The Dryad let's you pod to Viscera Seer and the aristocrat allows you to have a sac outlet in the 2 cmc slot.
:)

I was actually planning to add in the Dryad Arbor , thanks for reminding me. I'm not sure how good Cartel Aristocrat is but I have some laying around, I'll try that out. Do you have a good suggestion for a replacement to Noble Hierarch for someone on a budget? I want more than 4 mana dorks.
May 31, 2014 3:19 p.m.
That's hard to say unless you don't mind them in the 2 cmc slot. The 1 cmc slot doesn't happen to have any more dorks that produce multiple colors I'm aware of. But there is always Sylvan Caryatid

If you can't afford the Hierarchs, Avacyn's Pilgrim is the next best thing.

On lands, have you considered Treetop Village or possibly Stirring Wildwood or Spawning Pool ? :)
July 3, 2014 10:46 p.m.
Wall of Roots is a better choice than the Sylvan Caryatid here. It can be used on the turn it enters and is a bigger blocker. Wild Nacatl can't kill Wall of Roots on turn 2, unlike Sylvan Caryatid . It also plays well with Chord of Calling
Gavony Township is useful for resetting your persist creatures if you've lost Melira or haven't got her out yet (the +1/+1 counters it drops cancel out the -1/-1 counters from persist).
Sun Titan can add all kinds of value to this deck, particularly in combination with Eternal Witness .
July 12, 2014 9:17 p.m.
I'm not playing the Sylvan Caryatid , it was just an idea I passed around. I was planning on adding in Wall of Roots , I'm just not sure what to take out (not one of the manadorks). I might add in Sun Titan because I often find (in playtesting, with the current Voice-less and Chord-less deck) that I need a non-combo way to close out games. And I will get my hands on some Townships.

I'd suggest dropping one of your Murderous Redcap , the Shriekmaw (should be a sideboard option) and Orzhov Pontiff (sideboard, it's mostly good for the mirror only)
3x Wall of Roots in

The Pontiff puts in too much work for me to cut, but that might be because of the friends I have who play Modern ( a Soul Sisters list and a Dredgevine list).

Archangel of Thune and SpikeFeeder is another combo that is becoming very popular in pod decks now that Treasure Cruise and Delver of Secrets Flip is so popular. It is also worth looking at Siege Rhino as it dodges most common removal in modern and is a powerhouse. Melira, Sylvok Outcast and Viscera Seer are very vulnerable to Lightning Bolt and other disruption that delver decks have to offer and don't provide much value outside of the combo so I would suggest thinking about taking those out. If you look at pod decks in MTG Top 8 or Magic Online that are doing well you'll see hardly any copies of the Melira combo. Archangel of Thune is terrific in this deck as it helps your burn/delver/affinity/other aggro matchups while providing a combo option with SpikeFeeder to gain infinite life and get infinite counters on your creatures. It is worth looking into if you are still working on the deck

If you'll look I have a Siege Rhino in the deck. I want to hold off on the Angel combo since it can combo off and not win (usually Tron getting their graveyard back when a titan hits the yard) but I'm strongly considering it.

I like Devoted Druid more than Wall of Roots in here.

You can't activate the ability with Melira online, that's the reason why I'm not running it. Also Wall of Roots doesn't tap to get mana which is super nice.

Yeah, I realized that right after I commented.

Thought I'd come over and look at your pod deck as you commented on mine! :-)
Looks good to me. From when I still played the Melira combo, I really liked Cartel Aristocrat, as safearus suggested. Being able to pod a mana dork into a sac engine is very helpful, giving you another method to Ranger of Eos/Chords. I never tried Dryad Arbor myself, though I have a couple somewhere - I don't like playing a fragile creature as a land drop (lightning bolt = stone rain anyone?), and you can always pod a Voice token if you need to.
One other comment: for the non-creature spells in your sideboard I would either add multiples or just take them out. We can tutor for creatures, but singletons of other spells will rarely be impactful. 2-4 of such spells is better, depending on when during a matchup you need to see them.
How have you found the Inquisitions? Saving two life can be great in some current metas, but I worry about some rather critical cards at 4cmc.
+1.

Also, just had a look at your realty: Gavony Township is definitely worth getting, they're great. They can reset persist creatures who died before Melira turns up, and generally make the grindy games much easier.
January 4, 2015 3:57 p.m.
I'm still figuring out how my sideboard will work because I don't have all the cards for it. I am definitely considering Cartel Aristocrat especially since you can pod a Birds off for it. Arbor is really good against sac outlets since you can fetch for it.

Cut the Combo!
Pod is doing what Pod does! More Rhinos...Melira is simply to fragile. I recommend checking out lists from recent GPs to get card counts and such.

OK I'm looking at those results and I'm going to edit the numbers. +1 Siege Rhino +1 Reclamation Sage +1 Shriekmaw -1 Murderous Redcap -1 Chord of Calling -1 Qasali Pridemage however I am keeping the combo in here for the time being. I might change it to Thune Pod once I get an Archangel of Thune.
