When making a RG deck, the obvious build is to take the Gruul Smash route. I didn't want to do that (although I thought about making a Ruric Thar, the Unbowed punisher deck), as I'd already done a similar thing with Jund Dragons and Naya Dinosaurs. So I dug a bit deeper on EDH.rec and was reminded of Hallar, the Firefletcher, which seemed like a fun build-around card.

The basic goal of 'Trailblazer' is to use Hallar to kill its opponents, powered by 18 different kicker cards and a +1/+1 counters sub-theme. Many of the kickers themselves are pretty weak, so I avoided the really bad ones and instead focused on ways to buff Hallar with counters, such as Increasing Savagery, Evolutionary Escalation and Hardened Scales.

Most of the other cards in the 100 are either to protect Hallar (Swiftfoot Boots, Whispersilk Cloak, Lightning Greaves, Heroic Intervention, Inspiring Call) or ramp sources to get as many lands in play as quickly as possible to pay the higher cost of kicker spells.

Although the deck's a bit of a one-trick pony (it doesn't really have any effective ways to win other than Hallar killing everybody), it has some fun interactions with the various sources of +1/+1 counters. For a while, it was my least favourite Commander deck and was probably going to be replaced, but it's grown on me and I'll keep adding to it as it's still fairly underpowered for now.
