From my experience, Aegis of the Gods is really valuable in this format. Not only does it give you hexproof, but also can kick some in the early turns when your opp may have no creatures yet.

Guardian of the Gateless and Darksteel Plate need to be in here.

I would replace the Diviner's Wand and Regent with these two.

Guardian is just gravy with your General out, and Plate....well, how can you NOT run it?

Here's my Angel build led by Akroma. It's a pretty fun CASUAL build that holds its own on the table. Your welcome to take some ideas an Upvote.

I think you are right with your suggestions! With Christmas rolling around, I have a lot of cards on my list. I will add these to it!

Staff of Nin is a good toy for a little more draw - and on Warxuaroz's idea of a tutor you could also use Tamiyo's Journal.

...oh and Angelic Field Marshal could be your Sunscorch Regent replacement

Oh I like those suggestions! I had not seen Staff of Nin before. I don't really own too man tutor cards, but seeing as how effective my opponents are at using them, I should probably get some!

I need to fine tune this more. Lately I have been focusing on my mono-Green Omnath deck.

Loxodon Gatekeeper maybe? Not a bad choice for a little more control.

Oh that is a great suggestion! I will definitely look into getting him into this deck! Any suggestions on what to take out?

Yeah I think the Felidar Sovereign can come out.

Both great suggestions! I haven't looked at this deck in a while, but there are some great cards available in Ixalan and some recent commander decks that would fit in this.

I have an Avacyn Guardian angel deck but currently she is going under some changes, so shes's not posted yet. It is tribal, so looking for some ideas, I see that you include most of the notable staples. How about luminous angel? She is heavyily costed but she makes an army of spirits... Is your theme of deck linked to the abilities of your commander?

Yeah the deck was centered around combining abilities (Odric, Lunarch Marshal and Concerted Effort being the big plays) and control. The commander's ability does blend nicely with Concerted Effort for sure though. Luminous Angel would be a great idea if I decide to morph this into a token deck as all the abilities could be spread over all the tokens.

I have a tendency try not to include "staples" in my decks as you tend to basically just build the same decks other people make which is why I don't have Avacyn, Angel of Hope in here. That being said, I also want my deck to be good! I am thinking that I might make this instead but I can't decide on a commander.

Orzhov has some interesting options for commanders, though many of them revolve around tokens, sacrifice-based strategies, or lifegain. Your deck, as is, does not really go deep enough into those playstyles to really benefit from those commanders.

Here are a couple options I think would work well with your deck:

  • Kambal, Consul of Allocation - I have a hard time getting excited about Kambal, since his ability is a bit passive, and does not allow for fun or interesting decks. That said, punishing opponents for their shenanigans is never a bad thing, and it will even net you some life.

  • Athreos, God of Passage has a couple advantages. You can attack and block more freely, as there is a chance the creature will be returned to your hand. I also like the flavour of this card for your deck--it seems fitting to have an army of angels led by their god.

Both are serviceable, and are not "staple" cards.

If I may be so bold as to make a crazy suggestion--if you want to make a unique deck which other people do not run, you could try an angel tribal deck in Selesnya, Azorius, or Bant colours. While there are no mono-Green or Blue angels, there are a number of angels which are Blue, Green, or both. I am not sure I have ever seen an angel commander deck which runs in Blue/Green.

Those are great suggestions! I have thought about Athreos before but just never got around obtaining him. The idea of throwing in Blue and Green is interesting. Any suggestions on a good commander for Bant?

  • Derevi, Empyrial Tactician is a nifty commander that allows you to bypass the command tax. Since you have a large number of evasive flying creatures, you can probably make good use of her ability.

  • Jenara, Asura of War is the only legendary Bant Angel, but I find her ability a tad dull.

  • Rubinia Soulsinger looks like a pretty fun commander to run. Having a sacrifice outlet with her would be a must, so when you want to untap her and trade up to a bigger target, you can eliminate the old.

  • Treva, the Renewer looks like an angelic dragon, so it has that going for it. I am not overly enchanted by its ability, but it is not terrible. The converted mana cost is a bit oppressively high though.
