So.... Red elementals also buffs other elementals? Or is it only the white ones which buffs?
Also, why would you ever splash red, if the white elementals buff each other?
Just something to consider :)

I believe that the red elementals were going to be above curve, making them look very attractive when doing a vanilla test. However, if you also add in the buffs of the white elementals, then it pushed them over the top.
Also what happened to Backlash? Was that scrapped as an idea?
March 21, 2015 8:58 a.m.
I think Backlash has been discussed for the 2nd set. But nothing has been confirmed.
Red Elementals will be similar to Ball Lightning in a way, powerful, but weak. The white elementals buff the Red ones which allows them to survive. This is mainly done through soulbond, although we might chuck a couple of elemental lords in at rare.

Ok, I was curious since there was no mention of it in here even though there was a lot of talk about it on the other design page.
Anyways, I was recommending that we have the white soulbonds give more toughness than power if we do use Backlash, otherwise red creatures will simply attack and die, making them have no lategame and overall leading to no-one playing Boros and just sticking to Red Deck Wins stuff. Even if we keep the soulbonds even, we should do some reprints of things like Divine Favor or Hero's Resolve

I think I mentioned this card idea on the design page, but I've changed it since.
Gust of Wind
CMC=
Type= Instant
Choose one:-Target creature gets +2/+0 until end of turn, or
-Target creature gets +0/+2 until end of turn.
If the creature is a fire elemental, it also gains haste until the end of the turn.

No no, all elementals buff other elementals, doesn't matter if they are fire or air elementals. Every instance of soulbond in this set will have an elemental specific buff.

Gust of Wind isn't an elemental, it is an instant. Besides, as I believe NorthernRaven said previously, what is the point in even putting in any red, if white elementals can just buff each other. Making the air elementals able to buff other airs, leaves the fire elementals completely useless. Why even put in red if it isn't needed?

Like I said before NoviceMagician ALL elementals buff other elementals. ALL OF THEM DO.

Calm down, I was just pointing out a flaw in design idea. No need for an arguement. As I believe this is a community project, perhaps we should put it up to a vote on the main design page.

I don't see where the design flaw is. Like I said before, both the fire and air elementals will be getting the soulbond.

I have posted the vote, and my explanation, on the main design page. I have no intention to further this disagreement; however, I suggest posting your explanation on the main design page, so as to best resolve the disagreement.

All elementals should definitely help all elementals. It makes much more sense.

Love the new cards added, but we should try to change some of those Undying cards' names. There are just too any undyings. What if Undying Care became Elemental Protection, and Undying Bond became Many Bonds, or something like that.

Alright, I figured they were just temporary names, but wanted to make sure nonetheless.

Okay, potential new idea for the Solas post-war.
- Fate Entwined —
- Instant
- Until end of turn, two target creatures share changes in power, toughness, abilities and their game zone.
- Fate Reader —
- Creature — Elemental
- Flying
- Shared Fate (You may pair this creature with another unpaired creature when either enters the battlefield. As long as they are paired, both creatures share changes in power, toughness, abilities and their game zone.)
- Whenever Fate Reader attacks, it gets -1/-1 until end of turn.
- 3/4

And can't forget the awesome flavour text on Fate Entwined!
- "This magic ... it scares me. When I look at the Fior, I can't help but draw lines of similarity between our relationships with them, and this magic."

Shared fate is.... Not very easy to understand.
When one leaves the battlefield, the other one leaves too? And isn't it just another form of Soulbound.... They seems pretty similar.
Does the powers adds up to each other? Like, if it's a 3/4 and a 2/1, they both become a 5/5?

Share CHANGES. That is the keyword here. Anything that happens to one creature in terms of power, toughness, abilities or position in the game will apply to the other. And yes, it is another form of soulbond, which I wanted it kept this way.
Basically if you giant growth a creature of a shared fate pair, the other creature gets +3/+3 as well. If you equip Basilisk Collar onto one creature, the other creature gets lifelink and deathtouch as well. If you Dismember on creature, the other creature gets -5/-5 as well. If you Oblation one creature, the other creature gets put into its owner's library as well. It's such a simple little thing, but it has vast amounts of applications. It can be used with voltron pairs or as a pseudo protection or as a method to bypass protection. Just be aware that whatever choice you make has a chance to back fire at you as the opponent can turn it to their advantage if you aren't careful.

I think it could be re-worded however.
- Shared Fate (You may pair this creature with another unpaired creature when either enters the battlefield. As long as they are paired, spells and abilities, other than Shared Fate, that would change the power, toughness, abilities or game zone of one creature also applies to the paired creature.)

This ruling is also pretty important.
Creatures can not become members of multiple pairs. However, if two creatuers with Soulbond pair up, they each provide their benefits to each other. Thematically the mechanic has similarities with the overly complicated and obsolete Banding.
Which means the rules text would have to change again.
- Shared Fate (You may pair this creature with another unpaired creature when either enters the battlefield. As long as they are paired, spells and abilities that don't rely on a creature being paired, that would change the power, toughness, abilities or game zone of one creature also applies to the paired creature.)

This means I can have fun with the enchantments and soulbonding as I like. I've circumvented any infinite bonuses like, making each creature infinite/infinite by just using one Giant Growth on it.

Just an idea:
Bellows Keeper
Creature - Elemental
First strike
Soulbond(You may pair this creature with another unpaired creature when either enters the battlefield. They remain paired for as long as you control both of them.)As long as Bellows Keeper is paired with another creature, each of those creatures gets haste. If both of those creatures are Elementals, they get haste and +1/+1 instead.
2/1
