I'm good at finding artists. I have a massive alters list and some of them are digital alters that take their work from other artists, so I can go hunting there. That and I can scrounge up some connections from MSE, though by all means, please find artists if you can.

Oh man that'd actually be pretty interesting to have custom art for these cards then...in that case then, should we have a thread for the design of these tribes sometime? I mean I have designs in mind after all...just...just can't draw them well...

I know what to look for. The original arts you put for the cards are excellent as a basis, so probably start there. The Solas and Thannalids are going to be harder, but we'll get there slowly.

Yeah I imagined the Steelkin's female models looking like Platinum Angel and the male models looking like the Platinum Emperion..which is funny because they are both platinum. The Lutrins probably could follow the design of the Nokalus card made and the Forlorn I actually had a simple little design for them. They'd look like little ghastly children of some sort that possess objects via a spiritual thread from the lower part of their body, like a string to a puppet :3

Not to get off topic or anything, but this should probably go over to the lore page. As much as I wish that the art affected the abilities of cards, they don't...

Not sure if art design would be too much for the lore page. If we do have design of the creatures for lore, might need multiple threads probably.

Well, I'm assuming that the card designs will be the words, mana costs, and power/toughness of cards. The lore will be the overall storyline, flavortext, and art of cards. But there certainly could be one art page that can be put together when we start finalizing some card designs.

I think it could be stuck in the lore page. It's not like we've gotten much further in the lore besides altering it again and again based on mechanics and draft structure.

I'm going to pop in to offer some constructive criticism on your mechanic.

Recycle is templated as follows:

Recycle [cost] ([cost], Exile this card from your graveyard: You may search your library for an artifact card with a converted mana cost less than N, reveal it, and put it into your hand. Then shuffle your library.)

Because you're not formatting it "Recycle N --- [cost]," N is undefined. You have to write "an artifact card with converted mana cost less than this card's converted mana cost . . ." Otherwise, N is arbitrary by template definition, and that's bad.

This, of course, introduces complications for Steelkin Hydra, which has CMC 0 and thus cannot work with recycle. It's already a bad idea to force players to remember the casting value of X through a zone change, but the current wording introduces complications when Steelkin Hydra wasn't cast.

Basically, you're looking at "Recycle N --- [cost]" if you want to keep Steelkin Hydra viable.

Also, I humbly propose that you think of a creative name for the steelkin because anything-kin just reminds me of tumblr and I can no longer take it seriously.

Even if I think that almost free tutors are a little to good, if it goes to the hand I have no issues. We simply can't go wild in card designs, but we can take a more toolbox approach.Steelforged or Ironforged sounds badass :p But I think we should leave that to KalvinHobbez.

Steelkin was named after the Flamekin in Magic, so I guess it just fit in. But now that you do mention it I feel like I'll see tumblr every time I see Steelkin...even though -kin is a legitimate word used in fantasy but it got ruined. Names for the tribes can be changed around anyways, like the Forlorn were originally Phantasms. Steelkin could maybe be Metalloids or Ironclads.

I like The Ironclad. It sound more inevitable if the call them like a horde, especially since I'm assuming they don't have much individuality.

The purpose Epochalyptik was basically to say that the recycle cost was always equivalent to its converted mana cost.

They are all about individuality maioflw, but a recurring theme with them is that their sense of individuality gets blurred with who their parts belonged to in the past. In a sense, the history of their physical body becomes a part of their individuality, whether they like it or not, and they have to struggle to change how they appear to the others, struggling to develop their own identity instead of one based off of who their parts belonged to in the past.

@Femme_Fatale: I understand what the intent was, don't get me wrong. But that's not what your templating actually does. You need to write that out (look at how I worded reprise in my thread) in order to make the ability correct.

Damn, I just fought of that: aren't our Steelkin basically some kind of Arcbounds from Mirrodin? Modular could be a great addition to them, don't you think? Even if it's pretty bad to reuse already existing mechanics, I have to admit.

"Thought" sorry French's taking over English tonight. (sigh)

I think Ironclad is pretty cool. I don't like Steelforged or Ironforged, because they both make me think of the Warforged from Eberron...

Tutoring makes me a tad nervous, but I think that Recycle is a good mechanic.

Here's a different version that could be the "war" mechanic.

Salvage X (, exile this card from your graveyard: Look at the top X cards of your library. You may reveal an artifact card from among them and put it into your hand. Then put the rest on the bottom of your library in any order.)
