Probably one of the most fun decks you can build for $25. Strategy is pretty straightforward- play tons of soldiers and wreck face- but there's some fun little bits of synergy that make this deck a blast to play.
Preeminent Captain is our main man. He can cheat in a big guy like
Captain of the Watch
or surprise the opponent by converting creatures such as Archetype of Courage into hilarious combat tricks. Opening hands with this guy are almost always viable.
Supporting the captain are Ballyrush Banneret and
Daru Warchief
. Like any respectable hype men, they gather quite a crowd. Assemble at least two of these bad boys to get the train going, which is further supported by...
Mentor of the Meek. Yeah, when you have a banneret or two in play, this guy is just nuts.
Enlistment Officer
also accelerates like crazy. Just keep playing and drawing cards with these guys til your creatures start to overflow off the table. The number of non-creature spells is purposefully low to enable these guys.
Kor Skyfisher
lets us reuse those sweet, sweet ETB triggers once costs get low.
We only run four non-creature spells, due to the aforementioned power of Enlistment Officer. But boy do they pack a punch. Launch the Fleet and Eerie Interlude do different things, but both have the power to win games on the spot. Fleet generates a bunch of guys, abusing Goldnight Commander and
Court Street Denizen
triggers to swing for the kill. Interlude can function similarly- just exile all or most of your guys, then return them for even more cool triggers, such as that of Stonehorn Dignitary. Or, cast after your combat step to untap everything in case you lack
Captain of the Watch
. AND EVEN BETTER, this card is our one defense against board wipes. This card has so much utility, it's insane. I would run four if only it had the offensive power of Fleet.
