Composite Golem PDH Challenge

Commander / EDH*

Submission for the PDH Discord CMC Challenge.

This deck is a behemoth...literally. Welcome to CMC6.deck, and it's a doozy. Unlike CMCs like 4 or 5, 6 is the high drop area that allows a ton of actions and plays before it gets to the coveted 6th land drop. It also has some nice synergies in each strategy it utilizes. I had a lot of fun making this deck.

First thing's first, this deck is 5-color. However, the 6 CMC range gives us access to the Alara block cycling cards that are a boon for our deck. Unlike a normal EDH/PDH deck, we don't have access to low cost, early turn ramp spells or rocks. So instead this deck focuses on fixing. With 12 landcycling cards, the Panoramas, and 4 all color lands, the 6 CMC deck surprisingly has plenty of ways to make sure it doesn't get color screwed easily.

Secondly, morph. 13 morph creatures means we have a 13/99 chance to have a turn 3 play in our opening hand, which for a deck like this, is awesome. Our creatures also have the benefit of always being stronger than 2/2 after we hit land 5-6 and we can flip them face-up, meaning if any survive, we can start packing a big punch without having to cast additional creatures or spells.

Thirdly, cycling. This allows our deck to have draw power before turn 6. This also fills our graveyard, and gives us more cards to ditch with our 2 delve cards, or benefit off of our recursion cards. We even run a copy of Vigorspore Wurm to bank off of a large graveyard, which is possible with all our morph cards likely dying as 2/2s.

Fourth, life gain. We need a way to start getting out of death range against the CMC 1-3 decks. So once you hit land 6, you can start gaining life and fighting back.

Finally, our commander. Being 6 colorless to cast, Composite Golem has a strong body and even ramps us by sacrificing himself for one of each color. Even if we're color screwed, we can always use this failsafe to try to cast cards. Composite Golem adding mana could also work to our favor with our reduction cards or morph cards. This way, even though we're CMC 6, we can still cast Composite turn 6, sacrifice him, and cast additional spells with only 5 mana.

That's really it. Let me know what you think, this deck was super fun to build. Hopefully some of you are up for a game as well, as I'd love to see just how bad, but fun, this deck turns out.
