It's the old Oblivion Ring trick. If you sacrifice O-Ring before its ETB ability resolves, it will trigger the LTB ability, then the LTB ability will resolve and do nothing, the ETB ability will resolve and exile the permanent. It's a corner case in this deck, but it could work if you flashed in O-Ring when you're going to use Ertai's ability.

Oh yeah. Been awhile since I've had to deal with someone doing that haha. Good idea. Thanks!

since youre obviously not against running counters: Dissipate , Spell Crumple , and Hinder really are the best at what they do and can replace some of the ones youre running now. also the new Dictate of Erebos is another pact effect--and has an easier time coming into play in multi-colored decks even though it has a higher cmc

Yeah. I have two dictates currently. I'm not putting it in my black/white because I don't need less black in the cmc necessarily (and I really like my 8th edition grave pact). It's rare that it's a problem. I can see how it would be better in a three color deck.
As for Spell Crumple and Hinder , can you explain what to replace and/or why I need them? I know Dissipate is strictly better than Faerie Trickie.

I would replace swift silence and countersquall: swift silence because I don't know how often a card is on the stack along with something that isn't already a counterspell; and countersquall because it's just not that versatile. As for the reason why you need them? Simple answer is you don't, but they are particularly effective against opposing commanders. a small tangent: I would run both dissipate and trickery (which ididnt know existed) because of their ability to permanently answer a threat--thats assuming that recursive decks are a thing in your playgroups.

Hmm forgot that it would make countering a general very worth it! You've convinced me to consider one or both of them! Thank you, again!

I am going to acquire an Angel of Despair and an Ashen Rider . I have Flickerform and Deadeye Navigator . Any suggestions on what to trade for these four would be great!

hey there, the list is starting to come together--
i would still recommend Zur the Enchanter as a singleton
if you're planning on using oblivion ring--have you considered Detention Sphere and Banishing Light as well?
Chromatic Lantern or Coalition Relic should also go in over the obelisks any day

Not sure how you fell about token generator's with Ertai. Bitterblossom , Ophiomancer , etc. could be brutal.

Ophiomancer could be useful. Bitterblossom is too expensive and doesn't hit hard enough in EDH imo. Thanks for the suggestions!

Why no Sun Titan
? seems like it would be right at home here.

Yes it does! I need another one, good point. And I also need to update my decks on this site, haha.

Oblivion Ring is especially good for you because you can use it to permanently exile things for 4 mana.
