Hey, I've been following your list for a while and I wanted to get your thoughts on a couple cards if you don't mind sharing.  Mind Harness   Hydroblast   Cremate  Thanks for your time.

How do we feel about Smothering Tithe and Verity Circle in PST? Strong supplemental additions or do-nothing enchantments?

roastbeef I think they're great cards in a lot of high power decks, but at 3 and 4 CMC "do nothing" when cast, I don't think they cut it here. Seeing as we don't run Rhystic Study , I don't think we would run these. Just my two cents!

Mind Harness: seems a bit cute, I can't see the direct use case.

Hydroblast: I'm not sure what red cards we're worried about. Seems like an all-purpose counter would do more.

Cremate: I like this card, it's spicy if your meta is reanimator oriented. Cantrips at worse. Slots are tight though.

...

Smothering Tithe: I actually think this card is nuts and it's a strong midrange piece here. Refunds mana immediately to get interaction back up and lets you bank mana for plays or activating Thrasios. Good choice if games go long or your meta has a lot of wheels. I'm not going to make room for it in the blind build.

Verity Circle: Another strong but meta-contextual midrange piece. Mana denial or draw is pretty solid regardless of which. Similar (and probably worse) than Rhystic Study, which is another solid option. Good in green metas that take the game long.

Hey there, I am doing a bit of research on The more competitive decks out there for my Stax deck.

  • So the first question is: what kind of "Stax" or "Hate cards" would shut this deck down or make it impossible for you to win under certain singular or combined Effects?

  • And the second question is about Sanctum Prelate as I am trying to gather as much information about the stopping power of calling specific CMC with this card vs certain strategies, Would you consider CMC or CMC to be more effective here to disrupt your gameplan?

Combined Cursed Totem + Stony Silence / Null Rod would be pretty tough. Depending on the build it'll be your call to see which is most effective based on the build. PST was made to go in and out of losing to one or the other (or both). Tax pieces can also be pretty annoying, but doable. No one piece would be the perfect one, but I listed what I think are the strongest ones. Trinisphere is also fairly good, but the deck can still go off through it if the Scepter makes 6+ mana with untaps. It's not played much, but Damping Sphere does completely halt the infinite mana combos with Scepter. But not Grim/Power if they are available. Laboratory Maniac + Demonic Consultation combos are tough to stop stax wise, since they are made to play through those effects. Creature removal and counterspells are best here.

With regards to Prelate, both are fine. 2 is more immediate of a stopgap, but then the deck has 1 CMC things to remove it. Vice versa. Take you pick based on the pod at large, since both are fairly effective - PST has a low curve.

How do you see training grounds in a control/stax-heavy meta, to abuse of Trasios in the long run?

FladhHulk - I think it is a little... bad? Idk, against stax, you sort of expect Cursed Totem and Linvala, the Preserver or just for Thrasios to not hit, all of which makes Training Grounds useless.

It wasn't included mostly since Thrasios isn't the primary grind card. That's Tymna's role. She gets value flowing better in those types of scenarios.

Someone else has probably pointed this out on another decklist, and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I do believe Pull from Eternity is part of a kill combo with Deathrite Shaman as long as your Dramatic Scepter combo is running. Just noticed that while goldfishing tonight.

How does this deck need to be run when against heavy stax decks like ruric thar, and grand arbiter / Lavinia style decks?

March 29, 2019 8:29 p.m.

I’m still rather confused on how to do the memories journey loops. If I exile my winds with some stuff it seems like I would lose the game because I drew my entire deck and can’t reset it. Not sure how to actually win if the key stuff is gone. In my build I’m running power artifact as well due to rule of law effects.

justinhohenshelt: cast a sorcery, counter it with Swan Song to get a bird, then cast Memory's Journey putting the sorcery, swan song and Noxious Revival on top of your library. Draw all three and cast revival to get Memory's Journey back. Run the loop for lots of birdies.

I am looking in to building this deck, why is Narset's Reversal your choice over muddle?

May 3, 2019 8:44 a.m.

ShaperSavant says... #20

gielio Reversal can steal other good spells and also works with our loops. You can put it on a Scepter and infinite copy Dramatic Reversal from hand, then use it to generate infinite casting of others spells similar to Copy Artifact or Twister loops.

May 3, 2019 10:06 a.m.

What all did you change from the build with war of the spark being added. I noticed Dovins Veto and Narsets reversal in the list. What came out and did you have to adjust the mana base to add in any of those?

question: is notion thief strong enough if you don't play timetwister? espacialy if your meta is full of decks that lack cards like timetwister wheels and windfall. I have not played much with the deck but I feel like it is droping hard in power level.

May 4, 2019 6:43 a.m.

cpantaleoz says... #24

you can still notion thief in response to casting windfall, and have an extremely impactful effect on resolution. if that plan is a big selling feature to you piloting the deck, but time twister is just not a foreseeable option for you gielio there are some other super suboptimal options you could consider such as Dark Deal or Wheel and Deal , not that I would recommend doing so. Keep in mind that the slot in the absence of twister is replaced with memories journey so slotting in these suboptimal options means you would have to sacrifice something in another slot. Aside from all that even just jamming out thief as a hate piece is strong because it basically says to your opponents: "anything you play that causes you to draw an addition card is now mine" which can be frustrating if someone needs to brainstorm to find a land drop or something along those lines. Even if you don't see mass card draw in the form of wheel effects in your meta you will gain some value just by playing it. It will also send your opponents through a hurdle trying to play around it.

How does the yawgs will and windfall draw out survivors of you have only one card in hand?
