So the MTG desciption of Kolaghan is it is meant to be fast and take your opponents out before they take you out. Well, been there done that. Doesnt work.

This is by no means a pure control deck but I cut out the bullshit and added more discard plays to stop my oppenent in his tracks.

R/B may be about speed and hitting hard but youll never win if youre relentlessly going for the throat. With this deck, you strike when the time is right.

Here are some of the reasons I played certain cards:

Duress - I don't own/want to pay for any Thoughtseize. So Duress is the next best thing. Hopefully get it early in the game and even if I get it late in the game, I can protect my creatures from spells or counters by playing Duress first.

Draconic Roar - 50/50 on whether or not I should run 4 or 2. Great card when it works out, terrible when it doesn't.

Liliana Vess - She's great for what I'm trying to do. She doesn't pack a punch like the way other Planeswalkers do, but she can take control of situations that have gotten out of control. She's in the "test phase". We'll see how she does.

Foul-Tongue Invocation What more is there to say about this card? It forces opponent to sacrifice and I could potentially gain 4 life. Adds more control while giving me the lifegain my deck lacks.

Kolaghan's Command This card is way more powerful than it gets credit for. Not only is it another card forcing my opponent to throw away any sort of plans he/she may have, but it can burn and bring back my Goblin Rabblemaster that gets killed quite easily.
