I wanted to make a standard, mono black controlled deck.As a rule, I like things that are cheap costing. Just in case I get mana starved, I'm not completely screwed.

The general theme of the deck is to set back while your opponent bleeds to death trying to kill you.

I like the idea of using Launch Party a creature that was going to die anyway, to kill another creature and punish your attacker. Think about it: You have a 1-1 nothing. Your opponent has some 5-5 flying horror show and 1-1 (because why not). You block their 1-1 with own, use Launch Party to kill the 5-5. You kill their best creature, take no damage, and to top it off they lose 2 life.

Rescue from the Underworld can be used the same way, except to get something else back.
