Thank you for the +1 by the way. And like I said, this deck usually works out pretty well with the mana. I have not had any issues. I might add some Magma Jet for the scry 2 so that I can work out the mana even better.

i don't know if it's the mana issues that i've been having. i think it's the finding something when i need it most. like, a board wipe but i get a dreadbore. it's just tough.

@ dentalflosstycoon I sided in sire at at my FNm against two control decks, and let me tell you. It won both matches for me. Sire just literally destroys control if it resolves

Just going to throw this out there, as I was going over your modified deck list, I think that the only thing I would change would be Assemble the Legion. While it's great if you can get it out early, I would probably just drop it for the 3rd Chained to the Rocks or the 3rd Magma Jet. On the subject of Magma Jet, how does the deck play for you with the Magma Jet? Does it come up often enough that its scry 2 is relevant? I look forward to your reply sir.

Also, one more additional change I would consider is the pair of Orzhov Charms in the sideboard, I would probably switch them out for a pair of Slaughter Games instead. I consider them more of an advantage over the Orzhov Charms because they can't be countered, and you can remove any nonland card from the game and all copies of that card for 4 mana. I hope you will take my suggestion under consideration.

I agree with you. I have actually been meaning to add Slaughter Games to the sideboard and I just forgot. Orzhov Charm seems like a good thing to take out for it.

How about removing 2 Dreadbore and add either 2 more Magma Jet or 2 Read the Bones . I think some more cards with scry would be really helpfull in this deck, because you can get a better hand advantage.

It is true that more cards with scry might be useful, but Dreadbore is certainly not the card to remove. It is probably one of the most useful cards in this deck.

Master of cruelties would be cool. You can use aurilia to win with him. Or just bring them to 1 and burn. +1

dentalflosstycoon I was wondering, does Pithing Needle really effect AEtherling ? Maybe I don't understand Pithing Needle completely. The card says it doesn't effect mana abilities, and all of AEtherling s abilities are activated with mana.

Can't win using Aurelia, the Warleader to attack alongside Master of Cruelties

You also lack card draw. Maybe underworld connections or erebos

Oh true. But master would still.be cool. Hes also easier to cast Than obzedat. Especially in 3 colour .he also destroys all land creatures when blocking . The only answer is removal

Firstly, Pithing Needle does stop both AEtherling and planeswalkers. AEtherling's abilities are activated abilities, and so are planeswalkers'. Mana abilities are abilities that produce mana, such as Arbor Elf or Elvish Mystic . If you could mess with an opponent's mana ramp, then Pithing Needle would be a little too good.
Secondly, Master of Cruelties is a cool card, but he's simply not as good as my other five drops. I would just never rather see him over the others, and for that reason, I won't add him.

actually, @dentalflosstycoon and @Vyper_16, you can still use a Pithing Needle on Arbor Elf or Elvish Mystic . those are still activated abilities. mana abilities are ones on lands. ie: Cavern of Souls . you can't Pithing Needle either abilities on that land since they are both mana abilities. you could, however, Pithing Needle a Nephalia Drownyard , for example. the second ability of milling isn't a mana ability. so you could use the needle to stop that.
anything that has a tap symbol or a colon ( : ) is considered activated and pithing needle stops it.

but in all honesty, wasting a pithing needle on a mana dork just seems bad.

i might be wrong about the elvish mystic, though.

I am surprised no one has mentioned Boros Charm Yet...

dentalflosstycoon says... #21
@operationremie To respectfully disagree, I must assert that Elvish Mystic is most certainly a mana ability that does not go on the stack. He cannot be targeted by Pithing Needle , and if I Hero's Downfall him in response to the opponent tapping him for mana, they would still get the mana, but he would die, because the ability is not on the stack.
@armithel Boros Charm was in here for a while, but it just didn't do enough mainboard, so now two sit in the sideboard.

@dentalflosstycoon after i posted that i read exactly what you said. that was my mistake.

@dentalflosstycoon So I took 2nd at my FNM tonight with my won variation of this deck. I was really happy with the plays I made. Soldier of the Pantheon was MVP for tonight. Gained so much life off of it and blocking turn 2 Loxodon Smiter ,Fleecemane Lion
I played blue/white control, red/green monstrous and 2 selesnya aggro decks. Ended up losing to the red/green monstrous again for the second week in a row. Just a little update for ya.

I also played fnm this past weekend and went 4-1, placing sixth out of over 35 people. I only lost to a naya deck that sided in Peak Eruption , destroyed both of my Blood Crypt and leaving me unable to play Archangel, Obzedat, Blood Baron, or my two Dreadbore . So land destruction aside, I beat one easy Izzet deck, a challenging mono red deck, a very challenging and long control game against an esper deck, and an also difficult orzhov deck, which was somewhat similar to mine. I was missing a couple of cards, but I think that this deck did very well for what I had to play with. The best move had to be playing two Lightning Strike and a Boros Charm in response to a Sphinx's Revelation for the game. He had exactly ten life left and it was great.
The stars in my deck were definitely Blood Baron and Desecration Demon. Pithing Needle in the sideboard totally screwed multiple opponents, naming AEtherling , Elspeth, Sun's Champion , and Fleecemane Lion . It worked especially well against the naya deck with the lion, if only he didn't side in those stupid land destruction...

@dentalflosstycoon i've been having a hard time with BRW lately. i can't seem to find a deck that really sits well, especially when most things need double colors.
