Wow this is really solid, I like :). Don't have any valid suggestions since it seems to well rounded, but I guess it's worth it to mention that Reaper from the Abyss might be a fun card to play with all those sacrificed creatures.

Okay something that hit me today. Cartel is the only Sac outlet. So test running with maw in the Obzedat slot is highly important.Second, also playtest in that obzedat slot with Blood Scrivener . I see you mid game with no cards in hand very easily. Sign in Blood is good. Blood Scrivener is better in the long run. 2 of on field is draw 4 cards and lose two life. He can give us massive card advantage. I'm testing it versus Faithless Looting.

@ lithionlx I'm a huge proponent for Blood Scrivener, I feel that it's better than Sign in Blood in almost every way as long as you have a way to buffer the health loss (Blood Artist in this scenario). I sideboard it in my deck Pain and Gain against pretty much any deck where I feel I need the card advantage. I've been considering running Maw of the Obzedat in place of Obzedat, Ghost Council because I feel that being able to pump Geralf's Messenger and Desecration Demon on demand with tokens and such is a huge threat at any point in a game. Please take a look at my deck if you get a chance and i'd love to hear any comments you may have.

Blood Scrivener is highly suspect. He has not fit very well into the meta so far and I think that this Archetype is where he may finally find a home.

During Monday Night Magic and FNM this past week I have by turn 6 sat stuck with a faithless looting in hand and a board presence that is stable and winning. I then have to draw a card, hope its useless to the game state then faithless looting into whatever. and 9/10 I'm pitching a Land and another spell I don't need to keep 1 card that will help me immediately. Thus why I think Blood Scrivener may infact be finally viable in a standard deck.

I will also try the Blood Scrivener . It sounds better than Sign in Blood because it works for the entire game, and offers a board presence that no one wants to waste removal on. Thanks for the idea. As for Reaper from the Abyss , I suppose I could try him out as a one of and see how he does.

i would possibly drop 1 sorin and main at least 2 orhzov charm .. bring back those doomed traveler's for great value/ kill spell. Also i do like blood scrivener as you have some lifelink. Desecration demon is pretty good with blood artist ...when i played a deck with them, i played murder investigation or esscense harvest. really cool deck +1

June 5, 2013 9:55 p.m.

I changed the Blood Scrivener . I do kind of want the Orzhov Charm in the mainboard, but I would prefer not to remove Sorin, Lord of Innistrad to get it there. Thanks for the suggestions.

Never run less than 3 of Sorin.

Sorin, Lord of Innistrad , Lingering Souls , Doomed Traveler are all fuel to the deck. They are the foundation of the entire build.

read these articles.

This build is still a little to "busy" for my tastes. It is however solid.

I will keep all of the Sorins in. Those website links were interesting; they helped me understand the issue with taking out even one copy of a card, such as Sorin. Thanks again.

Wow this is the complete opposite of my Life Steal (budget) and Life Steal decks.

I'll give you a +1 :)

Thank you. Yes, my deck is meant to be much quicker. I used to have a deck like yours, but it wasn't working out for me.

One of my suggestions would be to think about adding in 3-4 Tithe Drinker . My only other suggestion would be to remove the Griselbrand for 2 Falkenrath Aristocrat . With the way the current standard format is most games are over within the first 6 turns. Your only chance of getting Griselbrand out that early would be with Crypt Ghast and that is just to inconsistent imo. Your best bet would be to add in 2 Falkenrath Aristocrat in it's place. In the end it's what ever you like of course.

June 13, 2013 6:41 p.m.

I understand that Falkenrath Aristocrat would be more useful, relevant, and overall better, but I do not possess her or the money required to buy her and the rare lands to support her, so unfortunately, I cannot use her. However, where would you suggest I put the Tithe Drinker , which I had been considering before?

lithionlx says... #16

I would drop two Griselbrand and one Crypt Ghast for three Tithe Drinker Grisel has been usurped for better draw power in the Blood Scrivener I would also sideboard Obz for two Blood Baron of Vizkopa

Very pleased with your build. Solid

you have so many other early game creatures. who needs Tithe Drinker ? Griselbrand , when you draw it, you win the game.

June 17, 2013 9 p.m.

I am actually considering making another orzhov deck as well focusing entirely on life gain with Tithe Drinker and friends. Thanks for the +1

I would prefer not to drop Griselbrand seeing as he is such a great finisher.

+1 From me. I've been trying to find uses for Blood Scrivener and I enjoy him in this deck. I've been using him in a prototype deck with Lotleth Troll and Varolz, the Scar-Striped , I started with using Sire Of Insanity but enjoyed the black and green synergy more.

+1 from me

I really want to get a hold of Blood Scrivener for my deck All the Sacrificing which works really nicely but card draw always seems to be a minor issue.

Griselbrand makes an awesome finisher but I couldn't use him because of how much of a priority target he was, same goes with Crypt Ghast they would both die the turn they were played.

tips on my deck?

Will you be rotating this?

July 29, 2013 2:07 a.m.

I am going to make an attempt to do so after carefully examining all of the M14 cards and every card from Theros. I'll see what I've got to work with and if I think a valid version of this deck exists past the rotation, then I will. I'm probably going to add red as well. Also, I have another deck, Sacrificing with Benefits that I usually take to fnm and it does rather well. This one does decently as well, but like I said, adding red opens up options like Exava, Rakdos Blood Witch post rotation.

If the World Championships this year have taught me anything, it's how game changing Assemble the Legion can be... true, they've been using it in U/R/W flash-control. But I can see no reason why it wouldn't thrive in this deck. It could even serve in the sideboard against U/R/W flash.
